The northern goshawk is capable of considerable, sustained, horizontal speed in pursuit of prey with speeds of 38 mph (61 km/h) reported. ... Kills are normally consumed on the ground by juvenile or non-breeding goshawks (more rarely an elevated perch or old nest) or taken to a low perch by breeding goshawks.

One of the most beautiful flowers I know belongs to this tree, that has leaves that smell like peanut butter. The flowers however, are very delicate and has magical fragrance.

Keeping a simple abstract that caught my eyes down an alley. A garage door holding its own!

Amazing how nature and time create such beautiful lines and textures.

-- have a great weekend too!

LOB MAINSTORE

Forever frozen,

heart of this dear Autumn Rose.

Extinguished,

burning flames once consumed. Trapped,

frozen like glass.

A memory set in glass.

My memory to last forever. Forever frozen,

to gaze upon her beauty.

Be that as it may,

her heart still burns.

Thawing the ice,

to burn once more,

my dear Autumn Rose.

A quick segway once more to a frozen late Fall rose. The dew was just beginning to thaw and the petals were peeling open as the ice began to melt. I composited a motion blur capture on the background. This gave me the impression of a glass surface. A gift to all of my Flickr friends for the time, kind words and support. From the man who doesn't show his face, but hopefully shows what lies within.

This composition popped into my mental viewfinder as I was traversing the slope at The Hangings, Whiteleaf. Aside from the bow of the trunk with its smattering of orange, the fallen tree being slowly consumed by the woodland floor made for an engaging image.

Up close and personal with this wonderful tree that seems to be doing its best to ensnare me with its writhing snake like branches. Taken at Brush Hill Nature Reserve, Buckinghamshire, on a very chilly January morning.

The lampshade's reflection in the window., cedar tree outside.

And the two shall be as one.

I have been observing bee-eaters already for several years but never had a chance to see a bird consuming the biggest European representative of wasp family - the hornet. There is scarce photographic documentation of bee-eater consuming hornet, e.g. youpic.com/image/19107301/bee-eater-with-hornet-by-marco-...

but majority of them simply demonstrate large wasps as bee-eater prey, e.g. www.flickr.com/photos/125363288@N06/45540300214

Therefore, I was really happy when finally, such a situation occurred in front of my hiding place two days ago. Unfortunately, light conditions were far from optimal but even so the process of the sting removal by hitting the hornet by the branch was really spectacular. Please notice that the overall length of the hornet exceeds the bee-eater's bill length, thus the bird has to be very careful to avoid deadly weapon of the hornet.

This all white mushroom, known as the Destroying Angel (Amanita sp.), contains a potent toxin (amatoxin) and is extremely poisonous if consumed.

The mushroom is widespread in East North America. It forms a network that is intricately associated with the roots of certain trees and facilitates the uptake of essential nutrients, such as phosphates and nitrogen compounds that would otherwise be unavailable to the host plant ( known as an ectomycorrhizal association).

every green thing bursts into vivid radiance. Every blade of grass and every leaf in the woodlands is cast into the great oven of Nature; and the bright colours of their fading are literally the flames of their consuming. The golden harvest-fields are glowing in the heart of the furnace.... All effete substances that have served their purpose in the old form are burnt up :-)

One of the last leaves on a tree in my back yard. This shot was taken with a vintage Soviet Jupiter 37A 135mm lens with a deep red filter attached (vintage filter). The leaf itself was already very red, but I like the experimental red sky in the background.

Built in 1821. In 1970, a fire, natural in origin, consumed the church leaving only bare stone walls. The bell partially melted from from the fire.

This female American pelecinid wasp is an amazing sight to see out in the field for sure. She can stretch out to over 6 cm long, as long as our index finger! Luckily, she is totally harmless to humans and cannot sting. However, the May beetle (June bug) grubs that she hunts for are not so lucky. By the way, you might remember that the five-banded thynnid wasp female also specializes in seeking out May beetle grubs for her larvae to feed on, so those poor May beetles are in big trouble here in the Driftless region. This female American pelecinid wasp sticks her long skinny abdomen down into the ground until she hits paydirt - a May beetle grub. She lays an egg on the grub and goes on to find another. Upon hatching, her larva bores into the May beetle grub and begins eating away, eventually consuming the entire grub. Then the American pelecinid wasp larva pupates right there in the soil and overwinters, emerging as an adult like this one the following summer when those ugly "June bug" grubs are getting big.

Boy and girl birds, look almost the same. That is, there is no sexual-dimorphism.

Adult bird, head completely bald; Throat, featherless. Throat color, yellow; There is redness in the face.

Juvenile birds have some feathers on the head and neck, but are conspicuously bald. Throat color, whitish. And there is no redness on the face.

Madan, the name of the god of love in Sanatan Dharma. It is said that when all the other gods, fearing an angry Shiva, did not go before him, Madanadeva, in a simple mind, went before him, to pacify Shiva, and, consumed by the fire of Shiva's eyes (panchasara), was reduced to ashes. Perhaps, due to this incident, fools or simple minded people came to be called madans.

The American Goldfinch is the only member of the finch family that undergoes any plumage changes during the year. Their plumage becomes less colourful in fall and winter.

They prefer a habitat of open country where they can forage on the many weed seeds they consume with some brush and trees nearby for shelter and nesting. Other than the breeding season they are very social and will flock with numerous other species.

Being the very active and acrobatic little songbirds they are we often see them clinging to weed seed heads especially thistles. Because they are heavy seed eaters they nest later in the summer than other species supposedly so they have a plentiful supply of late summer seeds for their chicks. Their young mature very quickly leaving the nest in only 11 to 17 days after hatching.

Feel my pulse under your fingertips as your claws press into my skin. Feel me tremble as the heat of your touch becomes fire in my veins.

I need you. God, do I need you.

And then you kiss me. You kiss me, and the entire world dissolves away. I'm nothing. The only thing left is the burning need to feel your skin, your lips, your teeth, and your claws.

Undress me. Unmake me. Consume me.
