Few among the Vorgan have the might to tame a ferocious swamp dragon as their mount.
When I was a kid, I was a big fan of Mega Bloks' Dragons theme, which in one of its subsequent waves had an orc faction called the Vorgan, The Vorgan had quite unique, goblin-like dragons of their own, and I had a blast recreating one of them in Lego for this round. A bit more creative liberty was taken with the Vorgan rider, but I'm pleased that the dragon is pretty faithful to the original material!

Why is it red? We never made a red one. They’ve been iterating new models of their own, but they only ever reused colours from our original designs, or raw material colours. Why is it red? It makes no logical or tactical sense. It brings them no value, no advantage. Why is it red? Painting fast objects red is an inherently human tendency. Why is it red?!

Third droneuary build, racing past the finish line just in time! I'd prefer leaving more breathing room in between posts but the calendar waits for nobody.

I seem to be unable to stay in my usual groove here for MELO... so here's a fun 1:1 sword that's way unlike anything I've ever done before!
I was hoping to finish this in time for Summer Joust, but although I did finish a prelim version of the sword, there was no way I was getting photos edited in time--and if you're not going to do it right, no sense in doing it at all! So, I built myself some spikes and borrowed my brother's epic cape ;)
As for the sword itself, it's not exactly swooshable, but it's sturdy and moves well through the air if you're careful. And it is super fun!
I also got to integrate some brand new constraction pieces I picked up just last Friday, so that was cool!

Fast, light and maneuverable, these small ships are popular among security companies, and you often see four or five of these around cargo ships to protect them from pirates.

My entry in Round 1 of the Biocup 2020, for the theme of Reptiles. I had ideas for anthropomorphic characters, cyborgs, and goofy puns (and combinations thereof), but when I thought about it, these all seemed more common tropes in constraction building than 'simply' approximating a real animal. I chose these guys mostly because I loved the colors. (My photostream has been rather greyscale lately, hasn't it?) I hope you enjoy them as well, and good luck in the Biocup!
I've started this MOC over two years ago, and had made substantial progress towards this current version all the way back in Jan 2021, when it was about 75% done. Then life got in the way, and I had to prioritise other things, namely finishing my PhD, moving house, getting married, and a whole lot more. Since January I've been slowly reclaiming back some time for my #LEGO #hobby and I've been really enjoying it as of late. I plan to bring you guys a whole lot more in the coming weeks and months.
For now, enjoy this MOC and please let me know what you think! I'll also take this moment to thank my MasterPiece friends for their constant encouragement and support throughout this journey, without whom I'm not sure this would have turned out nearly as good.
Art Nouveau is an international style of art, especially decorative arts, that became popular by the late 1800s. It was often characterized by natural forms such as the sinuous curves of plants and flowers, and a sense of dynamism given by asymmetry and whiplash lines.
Here we are in Biocup semifinals! The theme, 19th century art, immediately brought to my (admittedly uneducated) mind perhaps my favorite art movement, Art Nouveau. To me, the style's emphasis on smooth curves and three-dimensional works make it a perfect match for constraction building. I hope you enjoy the combination, as well as the rest of the Biocup!

DARK ARMY
I envisioned this build as a sort of "Matoran 1.5", a midway point between the 2001 Tohunga/McToran build and the 2003 Kohlii player build. The idea was to mostly keep the aesthetics and vibes of the McToran with added articulation and nudging proportions closer to 2003. The modernized Lava Surfboard was a last minute addition.

"What is it that makes Ravager such a charming sort?
Is it his stinger tail, whose venom burns like the bites of a million fireflyers? His ruthless skill with sword and shield?
Or is it that he has never seen two bricks together that he did not want to blow apart, or a living thing that he did not feel would be better off dead?"
— The Shadowed One
This MOC was inspired by a little theory of mine: what if Ravager's sentient Sword and Shield were in fact cursed weapons that had transformed him into an ideal host?
Perhaps that might explain why Ravager lost his memory, had those destructive urges, and why it was hard for TSO to find another like him.
Maybe this is what he turns into when they're fed enough...

This build was inspired by the limited gold pieces found in my parts collection. They pretty much all came from a Ninjago dragon and some Chima/ Hero Factory constraction sets but they set the tone by giving me the seed parts of the Chima lion heads at the thighs, the big claw bits at the shins, the disks on the chest, the starship bit at the midriff and the big rims on the forearms.
I went on a deep dive into Bricklink to see what other parts were available in gold and started building based on what could be colour swapped as Bricklink orders came in.
I took the same approach as with Zuckuss; I built the head first and then got everything else to fit which is why these two are bigger than the other Bounty Hunter mechs.
My first few attempts left me a bit dejected but once I embraced more of an Episode I vibe it really opened up the options and set the direction for the rest of the build.
I started this in February and he was 95% done by the end of June sans some colour swaps from incoming Bricklink orders.
He stands 33cm tall and weighs 337g.
The 3 minifigs are from Set 7956 Ewok Attack and the tree took way longer to build than I thought it would.
This will be on display at Brickvention in Melbourne in January.

It's #herofebruary so I had to build something Hero Factory related. I decided to revamp Stormer, but I gave him a bit of an Ice Planet makeover. Hope you enjoy it! If you're interested there's a video on my YouTube about this MOC detailing the building and photography process.

Makuhero City's designated sharpshooter, Darcy Deadeye was built with an atypical joint configuration allowing them to adjust their body extensively, in order to achieve an ideal firing solution in any environment.
Deadeye tends to joke that if they ever retire from herohood, they'll become a contortionist.

"Her true motive is to refine the world, to upgrade peoples' understanding -- so that everyone can have the space they need to become fully themselves."
Queen of Swords inspired build for this round.
Not a ton really to go into for this one. Heavy influence taken from Magic the Gathering's Elesh Norn along with promotional artwork of the Iron Throne from the Game of Thrones Television show. Was neat how some of the negative and positive traits of the Tarot Card applied slightly to the character the build was based off of.
Between being on vacation for half of this round's build time and being sick for the other half, I didn't have as much time to really flesh the build out the way I initially envisioned it. Originally wanted to try a different color scheme and build an actual platform for her to stand on, but I'm happy enough with the way it came out.

This was built for RebelLUG's telephone game, where builders made a series of builds inspired by each other. The first builder was given a prompt that they had to build, and then another person made a prompt based off of that build, and so on. The prompt I received from Kevin (Brick Ninja) was "Ice Planet outpost tower, skiing penguin mechs, cracked ice, lava." This was my interpretation of that prompt. I had a lot of fun using the new Ice Planet penguin figures and trying to incorporate as many constraction pieces as possible into the build. My part followed Eli Wilsea (www.flickr.com/photos/eliwillsea) and is followed by jnj_bricks (www.flickr.com/photos/186036005@N06).
A huge thanks to Simon Liu and Chris Perron for giving priceless advice and feedback along the way!

Clarification: Effectiveness of procedure for pacification purposes when performed on non-organic subjects can be... questionable at best.
Still crawling to the finish. A rather large machine that has experienced some trauma around the torso. It will probably be fine though.
The fact that I still had Metru Matoran limbs after this baffles and irritates me. I don't even know where I got all of them from at this point. Either way, was just a fun build from early last year that I used to try out some things I hadn't tried before; mostly using limb pieces to create paneling of sorts. Also just a fun idea for me, I don't think I've ever intentionally built an unfinished character before so it was neat.
