Since 1992, badminton has been a Summer Olympic sport with five events: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles.
The shuttlecock cone is formed from 16 or so overlapping feathers, usually goose or duck, embedded into a rounded cork base. The cork is covered with thin leather. To ensure that shuttlecock rotate consistently, only feathers from the birds' left wings are used. Feather shuttles may come off the strings at speeds in excess of 320 km/h (200 mph).

Chili powder (also spelled chile, chilli, or, alternatively, powdered chili) is the dried, pulverized fruit of one or more varieties of chili pepper, sometimes with the addition of other spices (where it is also sometimes known as chili powder blend or chili seasoning mix).[1] It is used as a spice (or spice blend) to add pungency (piquancy) and flavor to culinary dishes. In American English, the spelling is usually "chili"; in British English, "chilli" (with two "l"s) is used consistently.
Chili powder is used in many different cuisines, including American (particularly Tex-Mex), Chinese, Indian, Bangladeshi, Korean, Mexican, Portuguese, and Thai. A chili powder blend is the primary flavor in American chili con carne.[1]

Sunsets in Maui are consistently spectacular because of the unobstructed ocean views to the west. The sunlight always has a way of sneaking up under the clouds to splash bright crimson and gold colors across the sky.
Both bumblebees are Common Carder Bee (Bombus pascuorum), I think. The feeding behaviour of each individual on Salvia flowers however was consistently distinctive when following them flying from flower to flower. Taken in the garden. Bath, BANES, England, UK
Alfa Romeo Nuova Super 1300 (1974-1977)
it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfa_Romeo_Giulia#La_Nuova_Super
"the 1300 fastest sedan on the 1974 market", and still in the acceleration from standstill "the time on the kilometer from standstill [...] is still the best obtained by sedans 1300".
Red-tailed Hawk-3107
Looks like a fantastic action shot with small rodents involved. Nope. Actually, this is the result of me making a U turn, stopping the car on the side of the road, and getting out of the car in the most stealthy manner I can muster. No luck....... ever. The hawk was perched on a large real estate sign, and as consistently happens, departed the scene immediately.
I understood then, with absolute certainty, that the
ability of the horse to sense emotion, energy and spirit is
beyond what most of the human world realises. This is why
their impact on us can be so instant, so consistently
positive, so transformational.

Another shot of Long Beach in the opposite direction.
The resort hotel in the right is Saigon Phu Quoc Resort.
A very long pier in the distance is for cruise ships as the Duong Dong river port is too shallow for large vessels.
Phu Quoc experienced a construction boom throughout the 2010s. In that decade, new beaches were discovered in the north, south and east of the island for large-scale construction projects.
I have not seen the new places but informed that there is a safari park, a Disneyland like resort, the longest cable car in Southeast Asia connecting the main island with an off-shore islet etc., which I personally think irrelevant in Phu Quoc.
These unique tourism sites are conceived by emerging Vietnamese entrepreneurs who probably have a different perception about tourism from mine. They, however, may be consistent with the needs of their domestic market.
Let's see how sustainable they would be in the long run.

After years of suffering, finally the ghost/temporary lake of Cerknica (it is a karstic lake as better specified in many photos of the past) returns to cover, over the long term, a vast surface of its large basin, which measures 40km2 and can be covered with water almost totally, something that hasn't happened since March 2018, roughly.
In these cases it becomes, by far, the largest lake in Slovenija (up to almost 4x Lake Bohinj), although with a low average depth, mainly between 0.5 and 2m, facilitating rich vegetation and aquatic fauna composed of still water fish (the biggest are Carp, Chub, Tench and Pike) and a large variety of amphibians.
The lake is also rich in poultry fauna, in particular storks and gray herons, and many migrant species.
Unfortunately in 2022, for the first time in its history (those who follow my photostream probably remember it, with "my area" shots inserted in strictly chronological order), the drying up of all the not embanked large part (the embanked part represents just 0.1% of the entire lake basin and was in any case reduced by 90%), caused an incalculable death of fish, while a significant part of amphibians survived by digging deep burrows in the mud.
This is just to say that you can't have "the wine bottle full and be drunk", as people would like expecting to be in the shade of lush vegetation wanting sun for 365 days a year.
It is ONLY thanks to my beloved "bad weather" that a healthy and flourishing nature can be appreciated.
Small and rotund with intricate brown, black, and white patterning. Some striking variation in plumage across range. Most males, including those in the eastern U.S., have bold black and white head pattern and heavy white spotting on belly. In Mexico, males can be entirely cinnamon-colored below and have a fully black head; some might have a white eyebrow or a dark chest band. Females are more consistent throughout range: look for buffy throat and eyebrow. Pairs or small groups are found in scrubby fields and brushy woods. Usually on the ground, but occasionally perches in trees when singing. The only quail native to the eastern U.S., where populations are declining sharply. Listen for distinctive “bob-WHITE!” whistle. (eBird)

They really do call "Bob-white" in the most amazingly loud voice. We heard this one long before we saw him. His mate showed up briefly, but stayed hidden deep in the undergrowth.

I don't remember summer's getting this consistently hot.......104 in Spokane today and thru this weekend. We hit 109 last summer. Summer's aren't what they used to be.
I wanted a cool memory so thought I'd post a favorite chilly experience I shared with dear friend Sergio. Capturing the sunset over iconic Peyto Lake was the objective. We slogged above the common viewing platform, which was vacant for some reason....We were here for a couple hours waiting for the color to pop, but it didn't much. Regardless we had a fabulous time bracing against the blasts of winds and snow. Tripods were mostly useless against the whirling winds. We were bundled up well so wasn't that bad. The beauty was entrancing. Returning to our car was a much quicker trip....wheeee. I feel relief just remembering this grand time.
Have a wonderful Friday and weekend. Keep safe and cool.
Forbidden City by Indo Chine
Consistently rated among the preeminent establishments at Singapore’s mega-popular Clarke Quay nightlife precinct, The Forbidden City has for years been attracting crowds of discerning diners and party goers with its multi-faceted offerings. Occupying the majestic Singapore waterfront building- The River House- which has been listed as World Heritage Site by UNESCO- the building was originally a 19th Century river front godown, later converted into the palatial residence of a wealthy trader. Operated by Singapore’s renowned IndoChine Group, the building has, while maintaining its historic structure and facade, been extensively re-modelled internally into a collection of stylish restaurants, bars and nightclubs.

Close up of a stainless steel sculpture by Liliane Lijn.
Originally created in 1982 for the Norwich Central Library, the multiple plates are suggestive of book leaves. The construction provokes other interpretations depending on the viewing angle.
It is now located outside another library, that of the University of East Anglia, although the new location does it little justice. However, the move was fortuitous because the original library was later destroyed by fire.
Lijn has pioneered kinetic art and experiments with light, movement, words, film, liquids and industrial materials.
"Sliders" have enhanced colours but without hue changes. Steel textures are strengthened. I believe this is consistent with the spirit of Lijn's work.
If there's one place that consistently takes my breath away, it'd be Cley, of course. This was a difficult shot because I was shooting into the sun. The bench looks very grand. It has a fabulous view over the marshes.
One of several photos that I took while visiting this quaint and very picturesque old lobster fishing village of Stonington Maine. The town, filled with beautiful and boundless photographic opportunities of old buildings, lobster and fishing boats, viewed in a beautiful harbor setting often lined with wild rosa rugosa rose bushes.
Stonington is a town in Hancock County, Maine, United States. It's located on the southern portion of the island of Deer Isle. The population was 1,056 at the 2020 census. It includes the villages of Burnt Cove, Oceanville, Green Head, and Clam City. A picturesque working waterfront and tranquil tourist destination in eastern Penobscot Bay, Stonington has consistently ranked among the top lobster ports in the county and is the largest lobster port in Maine. In 2011, 14,854,989 pounds of lobster were landed by Stonington fishermen with a value of $46.3 million.
Sailors on the island became renowned for their maritime skills. Full crews for two America's Cup teams were recruited from Deer Isle for the victorious America's Cup Races of 1895 on The Defender and again in 1899 on Columbia. The Stonington harbor has long been filled with Friendship Sloops among other boat designs, powered by sail only. Lobstermen once used them to haul traps. Most of their trips were to the outer islands (like York Island) near Isle au Haut, fishing during the week and returning to the harbor on weekends. This changed with the advent of gasoline or diesel engines, along with new hull designs, which enabled fishermen to make day trips to fishing grounds in Penobscot Bay.
Taken at the HBF Arena at Joondalup. This is the pavillion for the netball courts. Taken on one of my Skateboarding runs. I processed this in sepia tone consistent with the age of the pavillion. It has that 70s look about it and i hope they dont think its time for renewal.
but doing it consistently is the problem :-)

Early last December, I was consistently seeing a pair of Eurasian collared doves in Lake Meyer Park. After a very severe Christmas cold snap, one collared dove disappeared and probably perished due to the cold. Today I was delighted to see two collared doves here in the park again, so our lonely winter resident now has a new roommate!
Never been consistent with BIF with my Oly system. Boils down to the lack in skills compared to my Flickr contacts who are using the same Oly system. Lucky the A9 closes the skill gap allowing me to enjoy taking bird inflight.

There they were, so perfect for each other, yet so oblivious of one another. Everyone around them saw something there, the universe itself pushed them both to remain consistent. Friendship is always the best foundation for a healthy relationship. Swapping creativity, boosting each other to shine the brightest they can be. No, he didn't complete her, nor did she complete him but they both brought out the best in each other they already had.

Rough patches, soul searching and just trying to find your purpose in life can be difficult. Not everyone is fortunate to meet another that makes them feel heard, cared for and trusted. Suddenly, friends became best friends. A much stronger connotation. The silent comfort through the raging storm within. But time tends to test everyone and isn't it amazing how they surpassed time. Accepting that everything that's meant to be will happen in the right time for a better forever.

He twirled her around and around. She was laughing, her hair swaying around her form, flowery dress dancing in the air. He held onto her hand gently but firmly never letting her go as he watched her with a heartful gaze. Finally, they started that journey together. Looking out for each other more than best friends, but as lovers now. Oh, how much of the world they will conquer together. Just how inspirational thier union is not just for themselves individually but also to others watching them, admiring them.
"Cheese!!!" I exclaimed.
"Too much cheese" he muttered...
"There is not enough cheese!" She responded.
"We are definitely going to eat something with cheese fondue today!" I said, laughing.
P.S. I had so much fun sharing creativity with these two badass lovebirds! Cheers to more collaborations to come, we have to continue our tourist story and let it lead to many places!

Today we was in the vet.
Altought Rubio had less sneezes and snots today, the diagnosis was bad. The radiographs shows some spots in one lung consistent with pneumonia or cancer.
Tomorrow we have to go for doing more test, and surely a fine needle biopsy.
Hard to say but I cross my fingers wishing Rubito only had a pneumonia.

Well I really do hope my contributions and comments on Flickr will be more consistent in 2026. Having now got my garden office ‘christened’ and replaced my ailing 6 year old PC plus sorted out storage of photos I hope I’m more prepared. I still have a hell of a backlog of shoots to go through.
Anyway, not sure if this will be my last posting of 2025 or not but, in case it is, I thought I’d go for this shot that I took from the boardwalk at Saw Mill Pond on the morning after the workshop had finished. A fog warning for the area had been issued the night before but I’ve certainly driven in a thicker fog over here in the UK. I couldn’t pass up the chance to try my luck at the nearby Caddo Lake State Park as during the workshop there had been hardly a trace of mist/fog. Luckily I’d spoken to one of the park attendants the day before to find out how early I could enter and how to pay the entrance fee before anyone was on duty.
This shot was taken towards the end of my visit when the mist had started to clear. The shape of these trees really suit a foggy scene imo.
I’d like to sign off my wishing all of you that follow me, comment on my photos or just view them a very Merry Christmas (sorry I dislike the phrase Happy Christmas for some reason) and hope that you and your families have whatever type of Christmas you want be it busy, spontaneous or quiet. I prefer the quiet type myself. The world is not the happiest of places overall but there is beauty out there and all of us on here try to remind one another of this be it through landscapes, wildlife, street, car. plane etc etc photography. I am sure that if not for photography over the last years my mental state would be a lot worse.
Enjoy the festive period with your family and friends and see you on the other side.

One advantage of our consistently cool/cold spring (note the flat grey sky!) is the longevity of the daffodils and other spring flowers. The steep hill of Clayport Bank up and out of Alnwick town centre towards Rothbury has numerous large groups of them. Our home is on the other side of the stone wall towards the top of the image approx. level with the bus-stop.

dedication
this picture is dedicated to the valiant, tireless and overworked women and men around the world who, at great risk to themselves and to their families and friends, fight, sacrifice and increasingly die heroically trying to treat, save, comfort and console the infected and keep safe their communities.
in this time of great human suffering, uncertainty and angst, my heart weeps for these amazing people with tears of profound awe, sorrow and, most of all, thanks.
please, if you are able, raise your voice and your wallet to support and fight hard from the outside so that those on the front lines inside can do their best safely with the personal protective equipment they terribly need and so-richly deserve.
life is short. please do not forget to share the love you have while you can.
finally, many thanks to each of you for your consistent, heartwarming friendship and kind words of support. you put smiles on my face each and every day and i am deeply appreciative.
keep the faith and be safe.

my images uploaded with files in a crazy puzzle from the trip, I'm looking thru scribbled notes and googling, ha ha....( this trip also stressed my ankle out even more, so by the time I got home weeks later I didn't organize), family images I did. honestly just getting to these now.
I thought and/or I wanted to be here a little more consistently, my phone flickr app sucks, better to view and comment with computer.
