The first law of thermodynamics encompasses several principles, one being that energy can be neither created nor destroyed. However, according to the Law energy can change forms, and energy can flow from one place to another, but still, the total energy of an isolated system remains the same.
It's very important that now, maybe more than ever, that we conserve energy. Please have a lovely weekend.

One of the herd keeping scrub encroachment at bay on a lowland heath site. Exmoor ponies do the job on the other side of the heath so perhaps there is an experiment taking place to see which animal is most effective.
Friendly little dude at the McCook County Conservation District near Woodstock, Illinois.
Update:
I messed up that description as noted below, but I'm leaving the original description there so people can appreciate Julie's great sense of humor.
Actually this is at the McHenry County Conservation District and the Boone Creek Conservation Area.

Our first outing since June on a sunny, mild 57 degree autumn day.
This is only a short hop away, 20 minutes or so to a place I used to be from, now you know why I'm a photographer.
April is Earth Month—a time to reflect on our planet and recommit to protecting it. At Flickr, conservation is core to who we are, and we’ve spent the past year partnering with our community and others to champion sustainability through photography and action.

This is another image taken a month ago in Beamer’s Memorial Conservation atop the Niagara Escarpment above downtown Grimsby, Ontario, near Gibson’s point. Looking slightly downward from the cliff edge, nearly all the Autumn leaves were gone by then but a few managed to hang on. I liked the brown tones of the leaves set against the dark tree trunks and all that against a light, neutral grey of the woods in the background (down the cliff face the escarpment edge). – JW
