Looking down river from the dam there in Maryland. Captured this early morning view before the sun came up to capture the eagles in action.
If you look close you can see there in the rocks another photographer with his long lens equipment getting ready for lower views there along the river of the eagles in action.
This was taken at the Conowingo Dam in Maryland which is an absolute must for any bird photographers. An incredible place.
I'll be offline for a week. Happy trails everyone and until I return, I leave you with a nostalgic look back at Conowingo this past fall.
To Eagle enthusiasts Conowingo Dam in Maryland, USA is what a Candy store is like to the kids. Every year during migration time between Oct - Dec a lot of eagles congregate by the dam for easy picking of fish that are stunned by the release of water from the dam. And that brings a lot of photographers and eagle watchers.
I have been hearing about this place for a long time. So last year in Sept when my wife attended a conference in National Harbor I tagged along and one day I drove down there to see the place. Mind you it was not the peak season, I only got to see 7-8 eagles. As this particular one banked against the dam and prepared to dive for the fish I kept on shooting and just when the eagle dove for the fish the camera buffer ran out; I forgot the limitation of the camera that I was carrying. Ah well, at least I got this shot and I like the backdrop. A few of us will be heading out to the dam next week and hope to see and capture some real actions that this place is famous for.

Always prepared, I headed out this morning with the 7D Mark II and the long lens as I was planning on eagle captures at the Susquehanna River. Was to be a calm clear morning there. Just in cast though I brought along the 5D Mark III and the landscape lens. Glad I did, as the sky was more than just 'clear' there. Some pretty sunrise colors filled the sky over the Conowingo Dam.
Captured here hand held. I did not bring along the tripod ...
My appreciation and thanks to all of you for your comments awards and faves.
