Some red white blue here for those capturing the American bald eagles at Conowingo Dam.

... and yes, the eagle is photoshopped into the frame ;)

Started out Thanksgiving today at Conowingo Dam to see what action might be happening. Lots of photographers were already there at sunrise on this Holiday. Saw this young eagle circling out over the river at sunrise, as was able to move down river to get into position for this angle of the breakfast take from the river.

Thinking of cloning out the leaves from the bush there along the river's edge that ended up in the frame ... but they also add interest too I think.

For all the Flickr contacts I met at the Dam today, hope your turkey was great.

And for those that had to leave early ... the action really picked up after 11 ... and lasted until around 1 today.

Barbara ... if you see this, hopefully Jerry posts his capture of this early morning take, he was able to get some good views from the side angle. They looked good on his camera!

Built between 1926-1928, the dam/bridge carries traffic across the Susquehanna River on US Route 1 in MD not too far from the DE state line - HSS!

Here is another photo from this morning that I am pretty happy with. I believe that this was a mated pair. Photographed at Conowingo Dam in Maryland.

Eagle heading down for a fish in front of the Conowingo Dam. A little soft on the focus, but the pose was great.

The Black Vultures (new to me, I'm used to seeing the Turkey Vultures with red heads) were having a ball yesterday, feasting on dead fish. This one was coming into where the action was happening - HMBT & HWW!

Happy Window Wednesday ... the young bald eagle flies off with its fish that was pulled from the river below the old Conowingo Dam and the cool windows.

This was the only Bald Eagle that I saw last Saturday when I visited Conowingo Dam in Maryland.

Tried to get this shot of the sign at the Conowingo Dam ... and the damn eagle got in the way :)

Here is the next photo I took after the one I posted the other day with the eagle reaching into the water. Photographed at Conowingo Dam in Maryland on 1/5/22.

Happy Bench Monday ... from Conowingo Park along the Susquehanna River, on the lower side of the Dam. The sunrise light was really pretty, and I liked the way it shined on the picnic table there. Soon this area would be occupied by photographers, as the light was getting brighter and the eagles were getting louder :))

This is taken below the Conowingo Dam on the Susquehanna River in the early blue hour lighting. On this morning the dam was not operating yet so the water was a pretty mirror.

it isn't just Eagles entertaining the masses - HFF!

are these Whistling Swans?

I spent about 3 hours early this morning sitting in the freezing cold at Conowingo Dam in Maryland waiting for the bald eagles to make an appearance. I was about to give up after only seeing two from a good distance away. I stood up to fold my chair up and this eagle came swooping in to fish a little closer to where I was sitting. In the end it was well worth the wait.

This was the sunrise that greeted me at Conowingo Dam this morning. This is looking down the Susquehanna River below the dam. Eagles would be in action here shortly ... in fact while taking this shot an eagle swooped down and picked up a fish about 100 feet down the frame or more and only about 10 feet from the rocky shore. The light was too dark at this time for even the other photographers there to catch it. It did not even register in this long exposure :))
