The flat panel used to lead to a bridge connecting Prentice with Passavant Hospital. When Passavant was demolished and replaced with Lurie, a new bridge was built along the north side of Huron connecting the McGaw Pavilion, Lurie, and Prentice-Stone, seen in the distance. The new bridge doesn't make a very elegant connection to Prentice; features like the structural supports make it obvious it wasn't a part of the original design of the building.

This bridge is the same one as that seen from a distance on the previous photo. In the water underneath it, swims giant catfish. Unfortunately I didn't manage to get any good shots of them.

The Utah State Office of Education Title VII Program in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Red Butte Garden, the Urban Indian Center and the Utah Natural History Museum hosted the second annual of the Earth Connections Camp, American Indian Nature Camp on June 18.

The camp’s goal is to reconnect urban American Indian youth with their natural world and cultural heritage, organizers said.

The 30 campers, divided into two groups, spent the day at Red Butte Garden learning about American Indian traditions, history, arts and craft, storytelling and nutrition.

American Indian educators and specialists from the various partners led each of the learning stations.

Juan Palma, BLM Utah state director, was the keynote speaker. He shared his story of growing up in a family of migrant workers and the difference education made in his life.

Other activities during the day-long camp included building solar toys and constructing dams with the assistance of Bureau of Reclamation staff.

“I was so impressed with the instructors, volunteers, and especially the campers,” said Jeanette Shackelford, BLM Utah State Youth Program Lead. “The kids were respectful and attentive, and I personally learned a lot from listening to the different sessions.”

Organizers hope to continue to collaborate and expand the day-camp to have more students attend.

I LOVE the ocean. All water really, but I feel a very special connection to the warm waters of the Caribbean. I could stand on the shore for hours and watch the waves gently roll in.

Statement

These set of photos represent the idea of hubs, swarms and hyperbodies and show how they interact among each other.

Each photo corresponds to different ideas but they are, somehow, relate to one another in various ways.

Explanation

Each element (hyperbody) in the swarm communicate with other. Information is sent and received constantly. The hyperbodies are related to other hyperbodies.

Some hyperbodies have more links than others. These are called hubs, which attract a large amount of links. They hyperbody hubs are the backbones of the swarm of hyperbodies flocking the earth.

According to Kas Oosterhuis, hyperbodies is communication and responsive actions, and swarm is the one that is feed on data generated by social transactions. This kind of architecture could be understood as a hive mind of new transformation economy and also has the capability to react in real time.
