Macro Mondays "Connection"
Thanks to everyone who takes the time to view, comment, and fave my photos.
Macro Mondays 04/09/17 theme connection
For this shot I cut a piece of electrical wire stripped the ends. I then attached one wire of a low voltage transformer to an exposed section of wire below the scene. The photo was then taken with a slow shutter speed and flash. The flash lit the wire and the I used the other wire from the transformer to create the sparks by connecting it to each of the stripped wire ends.
All of my life
I thought I was right
Looking for something new
Stuck in my ways
Like old-fashioned days
But all the roads led me to you . . .
. . . Through the lows and the highs, I will stay by your side
There's no need for goodbyes, now I'm seeing the light
When the sky turns to grey and there's nothing to say
At the end of the day, I choose you . . .
Lyrics from “I Choose you” sung by Alessia Cara
We all live on planet Earth, connected with each other. Sometimes this connection is obvious, like family and friends, or being a member of the "Marco Mondays"-group ;-)
Sometimes it isn't clear at all and then there are still secrets to reveal ;-)
Also in nature there is a connection between plants and animals. Looking inside this black Petunia, you see the pistil and stamens trying to tempt insects to enter. You know the rest of that story ;-))
I like this lovely little universe and if you do too, we are also connected ;-)
Wishing you all a very Happy Macro Monday!

As 2022 draws to a close, I am looking forward to turning the page on this year, which has been a difficult one for me, and starting the new chapter that is 2023.
There are a few lines from a Josh Groban song called "Thankful", that I have always loved:
Even with our differences
There is a place we're all connected
Each of us can find each others' light
For me, Flickr has become a beautiful place to find that light and that connection, especially in a world that seems to grow increasingly dark and troubled. So I want to share a deep and sincere Thank You to all my Flickr friends and contacts for the light you give and all the ways in which you uplift my spirit. Thank you for sharing your talents and creativity which both awe and inspire me, for sharing your beautiful places, special moments, and great adventures, for your thoughtful and generous support of my photography and writing, and most of all for your personal kindness, caring, and humanity. I truly enjoy all of the conversations, comments, and connection with each of you, and am incredibly thankful for your encouragement and good wishes through some of the tough times this year.
I am profoundly grateful to have met such wonderful people here on Flickr. Because in the words of the incomparable Maya Angelou in the poem below,
"Nobody, but nobody, Can make it out here alone.
I wish each of you health, happiness, and beautiful light (both in photography and life) in the new year ahead!
Alone
by Maya Angelou
Lying, thinking
Last night
How to find my soul a home
Where water is not thirsty
And bread loaf is not stone
I came up with one thing
And I don't believe I'm wrong
That nobody,
But nobody
Can make it out here alone.
Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.
There are some millionaires
With money they can't use
Their wives run round like banshees
Their children sing the blues
They've got expensive doctors
To cure their hearts of stone.
But nobody
No, nobody
Can make it out here alone.
Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.
Now if you listen closely
I'll tell you what I know
Storm clouds are gathering
The wind is gonna blow
The race of man is suffering
And I can hear the moan,
'Cause nobody,
But nobody
Can make it out here alone.
Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.
He wears specs; Yes, I wear specs
He wears a black coat; Yes, I wear a black coat
He has a beard; Yes, of course, I have a beard
We both have ordinary cameras - smartphones
We both aim at the same object - a set of unconnected lines
We both shoot at the same time - before our lunch time 😀
He's on the 2nd floor, but I'm on the 3rd
He looks at its bottom, but I look at its top
He holds the camera with both hands, but I hold my daughter with one hand 😀

My friend Sia and I collaborated on this picture with a dual purpose - her blogging and mine. It's good to share with people you love. Here's the link to my blog for my credits and some discussion about connections you make in Second Life - readmeri.wordpress.com/2019/10/21/connections/
Here's Sia's version of our scene together - warning - it's so so good! <3 www.flickr.com/photos/119063027@N03/48934109261/in/datepo...

That's when you and I become
You and me as one...
"The earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the earth. All things are connected like the blood that unites us all.
Man did not weave the web of life, he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself."

HMM all! For this week's theme, I went with an electrical connection we get to see with these plasma balls normally seen in some kid's science museum.
Built in 1957, the Mackinac Bridge connects the Upper and Lower Michigan Peninsulas. It's an impressive structure.
