Connections is a series of collaborative installations in response to our connection to Mother Earth, our homes, spaces within ourselves, liminal spaces using only recycled and found materials. This project has been created using mainly materials from Artist Material Fund under the guidance of Kelly Greene (Indigenous Artist in Residence at the Visual Arts department). A vital concept of this project is to reflect on the fact that we are all part of this Earth and are extremely dependent on her since everything that surrounds us is provided by her. With the current overpopulation by humans on our planet, we've consumed and produced excesses. Thus, these installations aim to convey attentive perspectives by reusing some over-produced materials that would otherwise fill landfills.

If you look in the credits on almost all my recordings since early 2016, you'll usually see this device mentioned in the technical stuff... The Line6 Sonic Port VX is a USB recording interface with integrated mono and stereo condenser microphones, including a Lightning connection so it can be used with iPhones and iPads. It's capable of some really impressive recordings; for one example, my album "Catherine Wheel" (2016) was made entirely on iPad and iPhone with the VX.
The obvious connection between these scenes and the theme of the Apocalypse, the Second Coming at the end of time, can be seen in the empty throne in the center of the arch, flanked by St. Peter, who was called by Christ to spread the Good News among the Jews, and St. Paul, who was entrusted to evangelize the Gentiles. Together they will form the church of which Peter is the leader, and Sixtus III is his successor. In his role of Episcopus plebi Dei the Pope's duty is to guide the people of God towards the heavenly Jeruselem. In the thirteenth century, Nicholas IV, the first Franciscan pope, decided to destroy the old apse and construct the present one, placing it several meters back so as to create a transept for the choir between the arch and the apse. The decoration of the apse was executed by the Franciscan Jacopo Torriti, and the work was paid for by Cardinals Giacomo and Pietro Colonna.
I used the white washer to cover the over-large drill hole I made. I love having all my connections at the top; it really saves space on a board.

Shown here is part of the undercarriage of one of the two bridges that cross the Halifax Harbour. From the Dartmouth side, one can see the "spindly looking" legs that support this very busy connection between the two cities. It is truly amazing that it can support three lanes of traffic, plus a pedestrian load and its own very substantial weight.
