LA County Military & Veteran Affairs partnered with organization Wolf Connection to help female veterans overcome trauma during their military deployments. UIS students learned about potential employers, jobs and internship opportunities at the Career Connections Expo 2019. The annual event drew more than 100 employers and featured a career coaching corner, plus opportunities for students to strengthen their resume and interview skills in the days leading up to it.

I can’t tell you how many business owners I have spoken with over the past few years who have hundreds of contacts in their network but...
Very little engagement within their networkI am sure you have heard of the saying: Quality over Quantity.
Well in this case it is certainly true, a member with 350 connections could have a better network than someone who has 2000 connections if their contacts are using the network on a consistent basis.
I’ve learned this the hard way. When I first started using LinkedIn, I used to connect with anyone and everyone.
It didn’t matter whether they had a picture, what number of connections they had in their network or if they had completed their profile.
But as time went by I noticed 3 common reasons on why some contacts were more engaged and active on LinkedIn than others.

A special connection between Pembroke Dock’s First Citizen and the town’s Flying Boat Centre has been continued by the current Mayor, Councillor Andrew McNaughton.
The Mayor and his wife, Jane, were the first visitors at the Centre’s second anniversary open day, maintaining a special tradition. When the Centre first opened in June 2009 the very first visitor was the then Mayor, Councillor Pam George.
In just two years the Centre has welcomed nearly 15,000 visitors, far exceeding predictions, and more than 60 volunteers are involved with running the Centre and other parts of the Sunderland Trust’s exciting project, like the archive centre and education programme.
A surprise presentation was made to the Mayor - a plaque of the crest of No 422 Canadian Squadron which operated Sunderland flying boats from RAF Pembroke Dock during the last war.
Project Manager John Evans explained that the Sunderland Trust had two similar plaques, part of the collection from the former RAFA Club in Pembroke Dock. It was most appropriate that one of the crests should be given to the Town Council to add to the superb display of military plaques at the Pater Hall.
Thanking the Sunderland Trust, the Mayor promised that the 422 Squadron plaque would be added to the display in the council chamber.

A week ago (on Saturday), about the same time of the day, between 3 to 4 pm, I was taking a nap on my bed while Helen was heading to the place where her parents live; between 7 to 8 pm, I was standing in front of the lake watching the scenery while Helen was enjoying her tea time at home, etc…
I and Helen had planed to do a full day of photo shooting on a same date, starting at seven o’clock in the morning on March 10, 2012, then share the photos on both of our blogs.
Now, the photo project is completed, and the experience leads me to some thoughts about a magical connection between people who are thousands of miles away from each other, and have never met in person, but share the same interests – photography and blogging. And, it is these common interests that link people together. What a wonderful thing in the world!
