The 4th annual Missed Connections event took place on Valentine’s Day (Thursday) 2014 at the New York Transit Museum. Guests got to spin Craigslist postings about those “lost subway love matches” into poetry and music. There was also art, local Brooklyn tastings, valentine-making, and a photo booth. Sadly my french connection is only a dress as I would have loved to have been a wealthy sophisticated french gitl living in Paris and spending ;The Season' in Cannes sunning myself and drinking champagne on millionaire's yacts, then in the winter off to St Moritz or Davos for the cheese fondue and skiing. But all is not lost as I live a rich and colourful life even if much of it is in my imagination and thankfully being Jojo too takes me closer to it as if almost half way there. I do like the idea that we can do anything if we put our minds to it but I don't think just closing my eyes and opening them again will quite make it happen. Sometimes though it is nice when others confirm it too even if it a kind of flattery but it'ss always good to know I am not living a total fantasy I really have got this far.
I took my camera along today.
Totally unrelated to this picture, I have to tell you that I think I might have to have my sensor cleaned. I have tried blowing it clean with a blower bulb, but to little effect. So I will have to use a brush or one of those swabs I'm quite afraid to use.
Does any of you have experience in doing it yourself?
Yesterday someone asked me if I wasn't afraid when getting home and oppening the entrance door, since my building is quite large and I don't exactely know any of the neighbours. I said I didn't. Little did that person know that I've been thinking about my neighbours. I've been living here for almost six months and still I feel I'm a stranger to them. I hardly see any of them. Sometimes we share the elevator, exgange polite conversation. On an ocasion a couple of them actually visited our home for a brief moment. But that's it. How do you connect to people whose face isn't carved in your memory yet? How do you reach out? How can you get in touch, especially in a kind of frigid culture? These questions and some others have been dancing in my head for some time now... I remember how easy it was during the 14 years my family and I lived in Lisbon. It was a small building. Everyone knew each other. One of my teachers had an office there. The old ladies asked how we were doing in school and they had us over for a hot cup of milk and cookies when it was raining outside and we had forgotten our keys. They showed us their picture albums. I feel nostalgic just thinking about it. There were connections. People spoke of deep and intimate struggles and joys in their lives.
I believe we are where we are for a reason. In some aspects I'm still trying to figure out what's the reason I'm here for. And you? Are you hapilly connected?

Students of color, the LGBTQ community and female students convened in Reeve Union Ballroom April 2 to hone their networking skills with professionals at Creating Connections: Empowering through Networking, a Social Justice Week event hosted by University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Career Services.
Connections 2020 brought together 900+ parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends to celebrate Lab's strengths and the power of philanthropy. The event raised over $1.6M for financial aid and professional development.

This is one cheap but effective way of connecting the wire to the laser tube pin.
The insulation needs to withstand 25000-40000V (depending on power supply). We use a combination of shrink tubing and hot glue.

The idea behind this new updated connection card was to create something that felt very "mobile first" friendly but translated to paper.
Secondarily, I wanted to take the connection card experience which seems like a very one-sided transaction of giving an organization your information, somewhere that was a little more meaningful.
This Connection Card design is based primarily around the person's Decision so that we can pastor them better.
Later on, I will take this same design and create an online form that will sit in our website and app.

Update:
This iteration was improved upon from this original concept. I added a map to know where to bring the card, reduced the amount of input fields to make it less daunting, and added a box for kids' names. I also move the perforation to the middle since we had room and lowered the cost of printing. Most of the Decision icons came from Life.Church - so thanks to them!

Under cloudy skies construction crews continue to make progress on the West Connection Bridge near Madison Park in Seattle. Work crews are building 19 support columns as part of this interim bridge. Several column foundations being constructed now will also be used for the future permanent eastbound structure.
After several years, the slider of the zipper has come loose.
The broken slider was illuminated with green light.

Oh, and the man is an additional element that I thought would give something more to this photo, something for "her" to look at, creating another kind of connection.
This picture reflects on the force of nature, life and beauty in its natural formation. The texture and the imperfection of the rocks project to the visitors the need to appreciate and conciliate, at the same time, with the human history and the evolution of the world. Connection to our roots and ancestors are very important to look into the future. As we all know, the world was created to shelter all living creatures in the earth. For that reason, life is the greatest gift that humans can enjoy! This is a photograph that was taken in the Grutas da Moeda during my visit to Portugal.

On this day in 1818, Emily Bronte was born, in 1938, the first edition of the Beano was published, and in 1958 Kate Bush was born.
So - Beano and Wuthering Heights connections > both reading material, and of course Kate Bush and Wuthering Heights. Now, just to find a link between KB and the Beano.......
And the pencils? A reminder we took part in the project to create a written manuscript of Wuthering Heights, when we visited the Parsonage. One line each, out of 10,000 (the project is now complete).

100 words ~ connection
I couldnt think of a better way to kick off another month than with pieces of prepping dinner for my family. I love our Friday night dinners because it's one of two nights we clear our schedules and sit down to eat together. I love that we talk about our week, what we are thankful for and that everyone here, not just me looks forward to it. As the kids get older and busier they still make sure they are here for Thankful Friday and Pasta Sunday's. As a family we choose start and end the week together. Yep, I love our conversations over dinner as it keep us connected physically and emotionally. Life is SO good!
I´m a huge fan of auto tuners so of course I just had to build my own auto tuning shop. The shop is modular, but in a different way than the Lego modular sets in the fact that it includes a front connection for a street. The shop is completed with a working dyno (dynamometer) controlled by a Lego m motor and a lift. It also includes a computer station for data analysis, hydraulic jack, tool box, gas tank, and a whole bunch of tools and parts. The lobby is extremely simple because that´s the only way I´ve ever seen lobbies at auto shops. I also used the Lego Ford GT MKII for the photos just because it´s my favorite car and I thought it fit nicely in the shop.
