I usually expect them to scatter but these Hertfordshire sheep had other ideas. Maybe it was because of Toby and Oscar by my side, or maybe it was a just a show of unity, but I did feel we were not welcome. “Hey up girls who the hell is this in our field! OK you lot get behind me, Mildred, Ethel guard the flanks, forward, halt and stare” Stay safe, stay home or these sheep will get you!

This is an alternative shot I took for a contest on instagram. Thought it was good but not for the contest. Thought I'd share it here.

Two Brisbane City Council City Cats stop at the upstream Southbank station in the Brisbane River. A 50 cent trip from Queensland University at St. Lucia to Hamilton North Shore is a great way to get an overview of the city and its suburbs.

It's while since I have taken any macros. But the Smile on Saturday's theme of pawns was so tempting, as was the directional sunlight this morning :)

I thought about doing this in monochrome (far behind on that 100x project!) but decided against it. Might try with some of the other shots from the batch...

Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Smile on Saturday :)

[Handheld in bright oblique sunlight (tilted the board too). Going for repetition in the composition and minimal focus to create spots of interest (so too the diagonals - with the shadows cunningly vertical :) ).

Developed in Capture One to retrieve the blown-out highlights from the raw and to get rid of some purple/cyan fringing.

Sharpened in Affinity with Unsharp Mask and a soft dark vignette to keep us on the board :)]

Part Two. Scruffy has caught Big Mama's scent and turned to face the newcomer and her two cubs. Here is a key piece of information: these bears know each other. Dominance has been established long before this encounter. Scruffy, being smaller - and scruffier - is likely the underdog (underbear?), but she has been known to stand her ground in the past against bigger bears. And Big Mama certainly looks like she means business. She has two hungry mouths to feed, and a nice Pink Salmon or two will provide some vital calories. To say the moment is fraught with tension would be an understatement... Part Three tomorrow!

It was only a matter of time before they found us.

My master and I have been hiding in a remote settlement deep in the forests of Krant for the last 16 months. Every two or three months we venture into the nearest town of Nojuri to purchase food and supplies, and to gather intel on the comings and goings of the empire. This time we must have been spotted by an imperial spy, for a day into our return trek to our camp we were set upon by an ambush of scout troopers. My master held them off and told me to flee, which I did to protect the now dwindling Jedi order.

That was two days ago.

Since then, I have been on the run, hearing distant gunfire as the enemy hunt for food to eat or mistakenly shoot at what I hope is not my master. I hope he is still alive. I know that an inquisitor has been dispatched by the empire, as I saw a dual bladed lightsaber illuminating a mountain top last night, and even if I had not had this fleeting glimpse it was bound to happen, knowing how desperately they wish to eradicate my race.

Then he came for me.

He appeared atop the large boulder with a wisteria draped over it in the clearing where I lay hidden under some ferns. He announced that he was the Fifth Brother and that he was impressed at how long we had evaded him, then the scout troopers came for me. Igniting my lightsaber I deftly deflected their shots and fled into the brush. I was feeling awash with questions; why didn’t this Fifth Brother kill me himself rather than sending his troops after me? How did they find me so fast? And what has happened to my master? I remember him telling me a legend about a lost temple hidden on Krant that only the Jedi could enter, and that deep within was a secret that could destroy the Empire. All I must do now is find it...

So this is what I’ve been building for the last month or so! As you can see, this is for darktimes, though I must admit that this only became a Star Wars build late in the building process, as I was just enjoying building a mix of my three favourite types of landscape.

If you’ve made it this far, thank you for reading! Please feel free to like, comment and share this post!

There was a confrontation between a female White Rhino protecting her calf from a adult male Rhino. Fortunately, the adult Rhino's did not attack each other.

Not sure why, but these two Willets were definitely NOT "getting along"! They continually aggressively approached one another - no actually "blood was drawn" but it was an interesting 5minutes. Eventually they separated and went their own ways. Seen at Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, Huntington Beach, CA.

Confrontation.....

Thanks for all awards and comments

Juvenile Robin makes a stand.

Eight turtles were on a log, basking in the sun at Six Mile Cypress Preserve, Fort Myers, Florida. When the bright colored turtle approached, these "baskers" raised their heads, and the newcomer stretched it's neck in response. Eventually, they all settled back down in the warming sun.

The dark turtles are Common Florida Cooters, and the bright one is a Florida Redbelly..
