His head and neck are fully fluffed as seen in courtship. However, there wasn't a Hooded merganser hen nearby; perhaps he's practicing for the big day.
That's what this little Marigold made me think of!
My camera and two favoured lenses have gone off for a service so I'll be posting archive shots for a while ;)
Many thanks for all the kind comments and faves on my images. They are very much appreciated :)

The Canada goose (Branta canadensis) is a large wild goose species with a black head and neck, white cheeks, white under its chin, and a brown body.
Puffins on Skomer Island, Pembrokshire, Wales
How could I not post this cute shot? If you are thinking the little fella is a bit grubby you would be right, it's not my editing! We'd been having a heatwave here in the UK and the soil up wind was really dry and there was a fairly strong wind blowing so us Togs and the Puffins were getting shot-blasted!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Moms
How would the world survive without them
Of course it wouldn't work
They are there in some state of being
For us
Some are loving
Some are not
Some are there for you
Some are not
Some makes you safe
Some makes you not
But they are there no matter what
At least they were there for a while
She had you only for loan for a while
Then she needed to let you go
That can be hard
But she needed to
Even tho you needed her to stay longer
We must stumble around on our 2 feet and make our lifes so good as we can
Moms out there, we love you!
Sometimes we even don't know that we do
But we do - deep down
We don't say it out loud too much, but moms always know
They are after all conductors - all of them, some in secret, some out in the open, conductors of our lives, indirectly or directly
The world would be totally lost if it hadn't been for them
Oh geez
I'm a mom too
Haha
This little song I found totally suitable for moms, quiet and nice moves, mmmmmmmm.

This leaf caught my eye on the way to work.........frozen in place and looks like he is conducting the symphony of fall.
I'd just got off the Shields ferry at North Shields, when I spotted this male Eider on the Tyne. He managed to catch 3 large crabs in front of me. Always a treat to see Eider Ducks.
A train conductor frowning disapprovingly at me for standing in a non-approved spot and taking photos. I was waved peremptorily away, apparently for my safety.
Bill, a museum volunteer, was the conductor during our ride on the Snoqualmie Train. The Train is part of the Northwest Railroad Musuem in Snoqualmie, WA.
Taken from the middle of the road, this is a perspective of the Fall foliage along route 60 in Algonquin Park, Ontario, Canada.
Many drivers had to stop at the side of the road to be able to contemplate carefully the fantastic autumn landscape.
This picture was taken in the nearby of Source Lake.

Enjoy this Monday!

This Arctic Skua reminded me of the conductor of an orchestra. He had been bathing in a fresh water pool and was just flapping himself dry. This photo also shows the white wing flashes and deep barrel chest characteristic of this species. In summer they don't catch their own food like most seabirds, but mug other seabirds for food they are carrying back in their crops. When chased panicking seabirds will regurgitate their last meal and the skua will gather it all in mid air with astonishing dexterity. I photographed this one on St Kilda where I had another encounter with a breeding Arctic Skua. When I walked high on the hill one Skua called at me to signal its displeasure as it had a chick somewhere nearby. I didn't want to disturb it so headed back down and as soon as I turned my back I felt a rush of air as it divebombed me. This one wouldn't attack while I was watching so I then had to walk backwards out of its territory. But one bird on Svalbard wasn't so timid and physically struck me as I was taking a photograph of it charging me. Here's the photo just before impact: www.flickr.com/photos/timmelling/9459817588/in/photolist
One final thing; Skuas have webbed feet like most seabirds but there is an optical illusion going on here that makes the feet look unwebbed. That is because the webs were almost submerged, but the "middle toe" is a reflection of the leg making the toes look normal.
Yes, I know street photographers are supposed to be stealth and blend into the crowd, but I tend to interact with the population when the opportunity arises.

En el interior de un Tuk Tuk - Bangkok - Thailandia
Inside tuk tuk - Bangkok - Thailand
It is very hot, the noise is unbearable, the air we breath is hot is 12:00 at night and by day it seems.
Speed, wildness, daring, and a hectic pace, I am in a TUK TUK ...
I told the driver I have a hurry, I have committed a big mistake, fear, accompanied me for 20 minutes out of control, in an incredible city is Bangkok.

Niclas is one of the conductors driving the beautiful steam train. The museum train BR 64 419 of the GVS - Railway Vehicle Preservation Society on it's last drive for this year. More pictures soon. www.ges-ev.de/
A recently added art statue nest to the historic Sheldon Theatre. I took several different pics of this statue and will probably post others because they show different sides of it. Notice that he is wearing short pants and sneakers.
By the way, the musical instruments are playable and the 'hammers' are hanging there to be used. Beautiful tones.
An intense look from the door window of a beautiful wooden old-style carriage with a First-Class traditional compartment that has side corridor walkways, large picture windows as well as fold-up armrests and individual reading lamps. And of course, the clack-clack sound and coal fuel aroma of travelling by steam. I chatted to this conductor for a while, he's a true gentleman.
