Actually I had another imagination of this shot. I wanted some shilloute heads in the front and the girls in the back with their emotional faces and the whole in a dark black/white. But well it turned out as it is..

Sachsenhausen concentration camp Berlin

Just one more and I will be at the end.

The celtic harp is quite rare in Malta, I think... so seeing somebody playing it in the middle of Republic Street in Valletta is quite unusual.

What struck me most about this guy is his concentration on his playing - though there were quite some people taking pictures of him he never took his eyes off his fingers.

This photo has balance as the building shows symmetry. This was taken at an abandoned YMCA in Santa Ana. The building is luckily only about a block down from my dad's work so I wanted to check out the site to see if I could capture anything interesting. I loved the contrast between the elegant entrance and the boarded up windows and doors, so I decided to fill the frame with it. The difficulty I had was trying to get the angle I wanted. I have a 50mm and almost had to stand in the street to get all I wanted in the shot. Editing this was fun because I learned how to use the transform tool to straighten out the entrance which had looked a bit crooked.

Concentration:

Pilates demands intense focus. For instance, the inner thighs and pelvic floor may be accessed when doing a standing exercise that tones the triceps. The beginner learns to pay careful attention to their body, building on very small, delicate fundamental movements and controlled breathing. In 2006, at the Parkinson Center of the Oregon Health and Science University in Portland , the concentration factor of the Pilates method was being studied in providing relief from the degenerative symptoms of Parkinson's disease .[1]

A IBM user conference is also time for deep thoughts and conversations.

I would like to tell you this was taken during a deep and serious moment of prayer..... nope!!

He had taken his dad's sunglasses, put them on his head and was flipping his head back and forth rapidely as the glasses were flying back and forth from chin to forehead, until they flew off in some random direction... only to be retreaved and action repeated.

Ok, I admit I was laughing pretty hard at this one too!

During a rousing game of Pictionary, Chris rolled the die and came up with "draw with your eyes closed" - a personal favourite of his.

We looked after my daughter's kitten this weekend. I thought she would be an easy subject to photograph, but she's either asleep or moving at warp speed. Luckily whatever was happening on the other side of the window had her memorised long enough to get a shot.

Sachsenhausen was a Nazi concentration camp in Oranienburg, Germany, used primarily for political prisoners from 1936 to the end of the Third Reich in May, 1945. After World War II, when Oranienburg was in the Soviet Occupation Zone, the structure was used as an NKVD special camp until 1950. The remaining buildings and grounds are now open to the public as a museum.

Determined to succeed... Miss A gives rollerskating another chance... the second time in as many years. Looking glamorous as she does so.

photo by my close friend, edit by me

The dear Anders.

The look in his eyes and the nervous nail biting is because he's watching EM in football between Sweden and Spain.

Him and I are from Denmark (danes) so we love Sweden as you propably can tell from watching the Euro Vision Song Contest voting :P

"12 points from Denmark goes to....SWEDEN!"

But then Spain won the game! So I'm glad I caught him in an optimistic moment before the failure :)

Tonight's game: Sweden vs. Russia! I'm still hoping.

The concentration on Jonathan's face tells as story as he makes sure the straw is laid in just the right place!

conceptual view of a man seating in the ancient ruins and reading a book / concentrated man ignores not only the routine but the eternal antiquity

I cut up an old photograph of mine for this concentration piece. I took the photo with a disposable underwater camera so the color of the sky was saturated blue. I liked the effect and thought I could make a cool design out of it. The thing I don't like about it is how small it is on the paper, so I might add to it, but at the same time I like it the way it is (kind of simple).

The thesis of my portfolio examines and nuances the relationship between “separate but equal,” symmetry, and balance. While on a recent a road trip to Hearst Castle the Supreme Court began hearing oral arguments over marriage equality. Later, as I was touring the mansion, I was struck by the Renaissance symmetry of the façade and the interior spaces. Hence, this body of work is an aesthetic response and investigation that seeks to create situations where similar entities attempt to be “equal.”
