Dachau Concentration Camp in Dachau, Germany, was the first stop of our 2013 Europe trip. I've read tons of biographies, autobiographies, and other accounts of WWII survivors and victims and knew that going to Dachau would be an overwhelming experience. The horrors that these prisoners went through were unimaginable, and it fills me with anger when people have the audacity to say that it didn't happen. I was amazed at how close the concentration camp was to so many other buildings. It is documented that 32,000 people were murdered at Dachau in addition to the countless undocumented murders.

On the way back to Colorado, USA, I stopped by New Jersey to attend a wedding. On the following Sunday after the wedding, I went to see my nephew's soccer game. My nephew lives in Bridgewater and they had to drive down south to Marlboro for an away game. The end result was Bridgewater 5 and Marlboro 0 with my nephew scoring a hat trick (3 goals).

This was also my first time shooting a sporting event... :)

Aaron my grandson watching one of the many films that had been on over Christmas, I can't remember what he was watching....I meant to post this a while ago, but with all the snow photos I was posting, I forgot.......

another thing I forgot - It was my 3rd year anniversary for giving up smoking on the 11th of this month......I can't believe it's been that long.

I desaturated the colour and cropped it slightly...

Sachsenhausen was a Nazi concentration camp in Oranienburg, Germany, used primarily for political prisoners from 1936 to the end of the Third Reich in May, 1945. After World War II, when Oranienburg was in the Soviet Occupation Zone, the structure was used as an NKVD special camp until 1950. The remaining buildings and grounds are now open to the public as a museum.

This one is pattern, harmony, and color interaction as the light of the paint splatter interacts with the dark of the metal manhole. Also the pattern connects in unison and provides a measure of harmony and wellness in the picture. This was taken with a open aperture and a quick shutter speed to capture the grain and grime of the cover. I wanted that to be there to provide context so that people would be able to tell what this image was of without having to be explained too much or at all. I did not have too much trouble with this image, it was easy to edit, just upping the clarity and contrast on it to make it look a bit better and to pop out more than it was on its own.

Artist Statement:

The central idea for my concentration is to show various dance forms and styles in a unique perspective.

These weeks works represent my concentration by focusing upon the dance form of ballet. Both also being drastically different considering the way they are taken.

My first photo, shows the concept of movement. Ones eyes is drawn from the dark figure in the center of the image to the ballet shoe that is in focus.

My second photo, shows the concept of unity through color. The various hues of brown allowing the image to become uniformed.

"Motivation such an aggravation,

Accusations don't know how to take them.

Inspiration's getting hard to fake it.

Concentration, never hard to break it.

Situation never what you want it to be."
