I spent many hours playing this game in late 1980s after patiently waiting for the cassette game to load up.

Ian Livingstone CBE (born December 1949 in Prestbury, Cheshire, England) is an English fantasy author and entrepreneur. Along with Steve Jackson he is the co-founder of the popular and influential series of Fighting Fantasy roleplaying gamebook series and author of many books within that series. He is also one of the co-founders of prominent games company Games Workshop. In the mid 1980s Livingstone did some design work for video game publisher Domark, and in 1993 he returned to the company, this time as a major investor and board member. In 1995 Domark was acquired by the video technology company Eidos plc, which had floated on the London Stock Exchange in 1990, and formed the major part of the newly created Eidos Interactive. In 2005 Eidos was taken over by SCi and Livingstone was then the only former board member to be retained, taking on the role of product acquisition director. He contributed to the Tomb Raider project entitled Tomb Raider: Anniversary (an enhanced version of the original Tomb Raider game), which was released in 2007. In 2009, Japanese video-game company Square Enix completed a buyout of Eidos Interactive and Ian was promoted to Life President of Eidos.

Another nice shot of the Mavis - Kawanishi H6K5 - flying boat. Great for long range patrols and taking out merchant ships.
As with all the aircraft available to you in Battlestaions Pacific you have a range of views, from a console-like 3rd person view to the classic first person cockpit view.
Not too sure about the results for this week's assignment.... Title: 'Topsport' (can't think of a proper English translation without explaining in a sentence)
The Mitsubishi F1M 'Pete' of Heroes of the Pacific.
This is a seaborne observation plane - though in the game you find yourself tangling with these planes in the fighter role!
I was a bit sceptical about this but according to Wikipedia: "The type fought dogfights in the Aleutians, the Solomons and several other theaters."

Still, it is a rather beautiful plane in it's own way.

Very first game with the BF3 BETA - this is what the game looks like. I'm actually quite pleased it ran and in decent quality on my machine as I did have a few issues with BC2 (though not with the code optimized BC2: Vietnam).
First impressions are VERY positive - although on this infantry only BETA map it does feel a bit more like CoD:MW than a Battlefield game. They are running a 64 player vehicle map too now, but you'll be lucky if you can get in one of those servers as they are much sought after!
Graphically the game is very nice, it does have that slightly over-saturated colour palette that they used in BC2 and did remind me very much of Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 - in fact this map is very reminicent of one of the missions in GRAW.
Weapons are very nice and I was most pleased to have a AK74M as the default assault weapon (the default assault US weapon is - of course - the M16A2). Animations are likewise very realistic and I love thenew 'vault' animation where your character leaps over low objects. Best of all we have the option to go prone again (much missed in BC2).
Gameplay itself is very fast and furious and the new suppression feature and the blurriness it causes when you come under a hail of fire does add a new sense of realism that was missing in BF2 and BC2.
Problems? Well, this is just a BETA but the server lobby interface seemed very clunky and I had problems working out how to join my mates online (hope they simplify that process). Also the squad organization diodn't seem quite as easy to use as it was in BF2 - but I repeat that this is just the BETA.
We have the BETA available until the 10th and I am guessing there will be a flurry of tweaking on EA/DICE's part going on before the actual release. BUT as BETAs go this was a very positive start and I actually managed to make a few kills (usually my first attempt at a new game is one large whooping session)!
VERY pleased! (Pre-ordering today.)
Took some fiddling with the volume but I managed to load a game! Nice use of BRIGHT on the wheels and side windows of the car here to make them look different to the rest of the car.
From the demo version of the new game Wings of Prey. You get to fly two different missions in the demo, one British and one Russian. In the Russian mission - 'Battle for Berlin' - you get to fly this lovely little La-7 fighter bomber.
First computer I fell in love with. My mum borrowed one for a course she was doing and I got to use it and I thought it was just incredible.
The skill set for the soldier class, divided into three sub-sets: Infantry, Support and Medic.
In single player you are perhaps better off concentrating on the Infantry sub-set (as that adds power to your personal weapons and hit rate). While Support and Medic are very useful when playing in co-op as you can re-supply or heal your fellow team mates.

I relented and thought of a sensible name - after considering 'SS Bigdogsfrock'!
....I may change it back if I'm in the mood. :)

I won - I won!
I know it doesn't look like it here, but I'm a winner! This is the Monopoly Here & Now computer game. I won it in the new McDonald's Monopoly contest. So instead of coming up with a neat and nifty idea for today's 365 photo, I spent the evening playing Monopoly against the computer. Of course I lost! I think I ended up in jail 5 times!!!!! Hmmmmm, I must be a slow learner!
