Told in the form of a parable, Tales of a Sea Cow is a multimedia work that describes recent scientific research which reveal new discoveries made after the first ever translation of animal thought: that of the now extinct Steller Sea Cow. The first decoding of animal communication — that of a 22 minute extract of sub-aquatic songs — into words and visuals has revealed an astonishing analysis of human society through our technological evolution. Observing the expansion of both the real and virtual worlds, the sea cow’s song is presented as a testimony, a critique of the ineluctable human desire for a true separation of the body and mind.
We observe that virtual worlds are an interface, an alternate view of those crucial elements, which combine to create a society
based on consumerism, advertising, mass media, social security and self-improvement.
Fable ou métaphore, Tales of a Sea Cow est un travail multimedia (texte, installation, vidéo, performance) illustrant de fictionnelles récentes recherches qui ont permis de nouvelles découvertes grâce à première traduction d’une pensée animale: celle d’une espèce marine que l’on pensait éteinte depuis 1768, la Rhytine de Steller (Hydrodamalis
gigas).
La première traduction d’une communication animale, un extrait long de 22 minutes d’un chant sous-marin, un décodage présentant des mots et des visuels, a révélé une analyse extraordinaire de la société humaine à travers notre évolution technique : une critique des mondes virtuels. Appelée Burj Dubaï jusqu’à son inauguration, c'est un gratte-ciel situé à Dubaï aux Émirats arabes unis, devenu en mai 2009 la plus haute structure humaine jamais construite. Sa hauteur finale, atteinte le 17 janvier 2009, est de 828 mètres. Elle doit former le cœur d’un nouveau quartier : Downtown Burj Khalifa. Son inauguration et ouverture partielle ont eu lieu le 4 janvier 2010.
À noter que celle-ci sera dépassée par la Kingdom Tower de Djeddah en Arabie saoudite d'ici 2018.

Il s’agit de créer un nouveau quartier, Downtown Burj Khalifa, un peu au sud du centre historique de Dubaï, et à côté du quartier côtier de Jumeirah (en), mais situé quelques kilomètres à l’intérieur des terres. Ce quartier doit comprendre, outre le gratte-ciel du même nom, un lac artificiel et de nombreux bâtiments de grandes dimensions. En tout, il prévoit un ensemble de 30 000 résidences, neuf hôtels dont The Address Downtown Burj Dubaï achevé en 2008, au moins 19 tours résidentielles, le plus grand centre commercial du monde, le Dubaï Mall qui y a ouvert ses portes en 2008, trois hectares de parcs et le lac artificiel de douze hectares (Lac de Burj Khalifa). Sur ce dernier, la fontaine de Dubaï offre un spectacle aquatique.

The decision to build the building is reportedly based on the government's decision to diversify from an oil-based economy, and for Dubai to gain international recognition. The building was named in honor of the ruler of Abu Dhabi and president of the United Arab Emirates, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Abu Dhabi and the UAE government lent Dubai money to pay its debts. The building broke numerous height records.
Burj Khalifa was designed by Adrian Smith then of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM), whose firm also designed the Willis Tower and the One World Trade Center. Hyder Consulting was chosen to be the supervising engineer with NORR Group Consultants International Limited chosen to supervise the architecture of the project. The design of Burj Khalifa is derived from patterning systems embodied in Islamic architecture, incorporating cultural and historical elements particular to the region such as the spiral minaret. The Y-shaped plan is designed for residential and hotel usage. A buttressed core structural system is used to support the height of the building, and the cladding system is designed to withstand Dubai's summer temperatures. A total of 57 elevators and 8 escalators are installed, with the elevators having a capacity of 12 to 14 people per cabin.
Critical reception to Burj Khalifa has been generally positive, and the building received many awards. However, the labor issues during construction have been controversial, since the building was built primarily by workers from South and East Asia, who earned low wages and were reportedly housed in poor conditions. The center of gravity is in the bottom because it stops it from moving from earthquakes.

Au sommet de ce mont qui domine la mer sont disposés des roches qui font l'objet d'un culte. Par temps très clair, il est possible de distinguer les côtes coréennes. Mont sacré, aucun chemin n'existe pour accéder à son sommet. Appelé également Odake, il représente l'élément masculin. En face, de l'autre côté de la rivière, se trouve un autre mont symbolisant l'élément féminin. Au pied du Tendôsan se trouve un sanctuaire important pour comprendre la vision du monde des habitants de Tsushima, le sanctuaire Amanotakuzutama (天神多久頭魂神社) , centre du culte du Tendô, l'enfant du soleil (engendrée par une jeune femme vierge qu'un rayon du soleil féconde).
Alexis a eu ses premiers livres vers 3 mois. Il adore les livres, il passe de longs moments dessus. Il a été difficile de lui faire comprendre que les livres sont importants et qu'on ne doit pas marcher dessus ou les déchirer.

Quan tanquem els ulls?
Quan ell era petit, ell tancava molt
els ulls. Els tancava per dormir, perquè tenia por, per
amargar-se - o amagar els seus ulls per tal de que no siguin
malmesos-, o fins i tot per plorar. Però... en realitat no tancava
els ulls, no sentia que els tancava. En realitat el que ell feia era
involuntari, un reflex; una defensa.
A mesura que el bell vailet s'anava fent gran ell anava "obrint"
més els ulls. Ja no sentia tanta por, com quan era petit, ara ja
coneixia el món. Li encantava aquest món. Somiava en aquest món.
Però un dia, quan ja no era un petit vailet,sinó un jove vailet; va tornar
a tancar els ulls.
Per què tancava els ulls? Encara tenia por? Encara s'amagava?
No, ell no tenia por, ell no s'amagava; ell només sentia. I és que
ell era músic, ell tocava varis instruments,de vent sobretot, però
també de corda. Aquell dia va començar a sentir la música, la
verdadera música. A vegades, li preguntaven que per què
tancava els ulls, però ell no sabia respondre i responia que
per saber aquest perquè comencés a tocar un instrument,
que comencés a estudiar música.
Ara, ell, cada dia que toca, a cada concert, ell tanca els ulls,
somriu quan toca, i fins i tot a vegades si li pot arribar a caure
una llàgrima. Però ell mai va explicar el que sentia. Però ell mai
va explicar que quan tocava sentia tant la música que entenia el
món, que ell coneixia allò que no es pot explicar, allò que només
un mateix ho ha de descobrir, ara bé ell sempre et responia :
" Té aquest mapa, té: música.".

The first decoding of animal communication — that of a 22 minute extract of sub-aquatic songs — into words and visuals has revealed an astonishing analysis of human society through our technological evolution. Observing the expansion of both the real and virtual worlds, the sea cow’s song is presented as a testimony, a critique of the ineluctable human desire for a true separation of the body and mind.
We observe that virtual worlds are an interface, an alternate view of those crucial elements, which combine to create a society
based on consumerism, advertising, mass media, social security and self-improvement.
Fable ou métaphore, Tales of a Sea Cow est un travail multimedia (texte, installation, vidéo, performance) illustrant de fictionnelles récentes recherches qui ont permis de nouvelles découvertes grâce à première traduction d’une pensée animale: celle d’une espèce marine que l’on pensait éteinte depuis 1768, la Rhytine de Steller (Hydrodamalis
gigas).
