Quite a classic composition here, but well complemented with this amazing sky at blue hour. After walking over 30 minutes in the late night in Milan, it was a treat to just watch the sun rise on the Duomo di Milano. As you can imagine some people were trying to photo bomb but… I did not flinch :)

Bathed in the golden light of morning, the yellow tower and surrounding facade of Palácio Nacional da Pena rise from the misty hills of Sintra like a vision from a dream. The vibrant ochre walls, trimmed with stone battlements and Gothic arches, represent the exuberant spirit of 19th-century Romanticism that transformed this royal retreat into one of Europe’s most imaginative architectural landmarks.
Commissioned by King Ferdinand II, the palace blends Moorish, Manueline, and Gothic influences into a single fantastical composition. The round tower, capped with crenellations and patterned tiles, anchors the sprawling structure, while the surrounding parapets and minaret-like spires add a whimsical, almost theatrical quality. Beneath the color and ornament lies a deep philosophical intent—an expression of the Romantic ideal that art, nature, and architecture could merge to evoke wonder and emotion.
Every angle of Pena reveals new contrasts: the soft texture of aged stucco against carved stone, the interplay of shadow beneath repeating arches, and the vivid saturation of yellow against a flawless blue sky. It’s a place where architecture transcends utility to become poetry—bold, playful, and unmistakably Portuguese.
The yellow tower and facade of Palácio Nacional da Pena in Sintra, Portugal, embody Romantic architecture at its peak—a fusion of imagination, history, and royal artistry overlooking the Serra de Sintra.
Compositionally Challenged Week 36: Nature. Long Point UN Biosphere Region - Big Creek National Wildlife Area.
Again in this derelict yard, and with a guard dog that wouldn't shut up, I found a bit of hard colour to create this composition.

Ok yeah it's probably obvious I tampered with the saturation on this one. There was so much dust from the dirt road on this clover patch I couldn't not tamper with it.
I don't quite remember where this is, but I think it's close if not alongside the Redwood creek. The original idea was to shoot sunbursts through the trees, which I did end up getting, but towards the end of one of the long narrow dirt trails, this was on the side of the road and I saw a potential composition. And I ended up liking it better.
Even after dealing with the shadows, the sky on the right remained uncooperative, I pulled in another shot in a nearby spot and painted it in, (it's not that out of pocket, it was in almost the same spot, it wasn't exact cause I didn't have my tripod, I was standing on a dirt road I couldn't risk a bracket).
There ain't much of a story beyond that, so I'm not gonna go out of way. Sorry I cannot create a lengthy blog for this post, I'm not really feeling it today.
Redwood's a contender for the best of the 7 California national parks (it's only competitor in my opinion being Joshua Tree) but my northwest blood brings me here more often, and it's not an issue of distance.
