Tenochtitlan was the Mexica, or Aztec, capital in the early XVI century; Hernan Cortes arrived in Tenochtitlan in 1519, leading a small band of Spanish soldiers; they were attracted to the area by the numerous voices depicting the vast richness of the area, voices he heard while on the Yucatan - Veracruz coast. When they arrived they could not believe their eyes: a vast city extended on an island (Isla de Mexico), with dams and walkways connecting it to the mainland, surrounded by the waters of Lake Texcoco (or Tezcoco). The city was named Tenochtitlan, and another one was on the same island, named Tlatelolco. To the south, Lake Texcoco restricted and then enlarged to another basin, named Lake Xochimilco; on Lake Xochimilco, artificial gardens (chinampas) created a complex system of canals and waterways where farmers cultivated vegetables and fruits. To the west, the woods and fresh water springs of Chapultepec (el Bosque de Chapultepec today) were an important resource. Hundreds of thousands of people surrounded the few Spanish that dared arrive to Tenochtitlan. Still, Cortes managed to conquer the Aztec capital; the emperor Moctezuma thought the visitor might have been the mighty god Quetzalcoatl (the "feathered serpent"), who was supposed to be arriving from the east and be of white complexion; so, contrarily to the advice of his priests and warriors, he welcomed him into the city. After a few days, during which the scared Spanish realized what was going on, Cortes took the superstitious emperor as hostage. At that point, with a series of only minor ups and downs, the Spanish had the mighty Aztec empire in their hands. By 1521, they were destroying the city and building the new City of Mexico on its ruins.
This sculpture is a small example of Aztec art, and it was found among the ruins of the Templo Mayor, in the heart of Mexico City, on the site of the sacred pyramids of Tenochtitlan.

This is the south, garden-facing side of the house, very much in the early Victorian style. On the left-hand side you can another Victorian redbrick gabled addition, which may be the extension the Clowes family put on after they bought the house in 1865. The extension was a servant’s wing to house 23 staff. Inside is a series of salons, with blinds and curtains drawn during the heatwave – later Victorian style tended to put principal rooms on the north side as sunshine was so injurious to the complexion.
In this part of the country, the Malagasy people adopt a lifestyle, which revolves significantly on reliance on the sea for resources and fishing. Hence the people here are often refered to as Vezo (fishing people) or Vezo Sakalava as they are a subtribe of the infamous Sakalava of western Madagascar. Whilst here women and young girls would often be seen carrying large fish from the sea as these girls here are, I never saw any men doing so. The one on the right also is wearing a type of make-up that women from this region and also in the south wear commonly, which is believed to have health benefits for the skin and/or to lighten the complexion.
I saw this darkroom which is actually a BDSM set and had to take a quick pic. No restraints! The backdrop/scene already has a red tint on the wall and I added some rose-colored lighting to simulate a darkroom safe light without compromising my complexion!

This was the finished Standard shot with some careful softening of her complexion while maintaining sharpness in her eyes clothes hair and the lambs but mostly the eyes.
To be honest a lot of careful editing of what was a near perfect photo of her, I did get an element of highlight and it shows on her forehead and I can't fully damp it down in editing without spoiling the rest of the photo.

As some of you may know my filter shattered on my lens and today I was final able to buy a new one because passover was over... This picture reminds me of a funny story about my uncle from England and I forewarn you, my ability to write today has dwindled so I apologize for the lack of embellishment and correctly placed humour in this storytelling. My uncle wears glasses, in fact he wears glasses that are slightly tinted brown, and somewhat matches his complexion. One of the typical things you do to foreign visitors is to take that said foreigner to Niagara Falls in Canada and other various sight seeing spots whether they want to or not no matter how many times they have visited!
As we were enjoying a nice Saturday at Niagara Falls, people kept starring at my uncle and us as we walked around the falls and park area. We just assumed people were starring at us because a) my uncle has a cool british accent, b) I'm cool, c) me + my uncle = cool. Nevertheless, we never really tried to understand why they were starring, pointing and P O T E N T I A L L Y laughing (I won't tell you if they potentially were, or potentially were not. Hence the use of potential). Once we had enjoyed our day at Niagara falls it was time to head back to the car and call it a day. Once we got into the car, the natural tendency is to yawn, rub ones eyes in appreciation for how much of the day you ceased. As my uncle rubbed his eye, he realized he was able to rub it right through the lens. This is weird since there should be some glass there.
So apparently people were starring at us because my uncle had spent the latter part of the day at Niagara falls Canada walking around with one lens. In fact we have over 20 pictures of us posing with my uncle shy one lens. We nearly peed ourselves laughing in the car and later to the developed pictures...
It is not often I get a chance to be with such an exotic. She called me in and I listened with intent. This gal comes with a real punch; a V12 with 610 ponies and a red complexion. And, she was all mine for 1/25 of a second.

It was a hot day so on the way home I treated Kahn to a soak in a muddy puddle. He loved it ... he left muddy footprints all the way home that were still on the road 2 days later. After a good hose down he also left muddy footprints on our verandah ... need for more hosing😀

It’s not my title. This one was a gift from the early shift among the annual influx on a mid June evening at Holywell Bay, where I’d arranged to meet Mark, an old friend from work. When we first played football together at the college on Wednesday nights, we were both fathers of young children. Now, he’d recently joined me on Grandpa’s row, his daughter having given birth to a very tiny Finley, who’d arrived twelve weeks early. It’s truly amazing what the miracle workers in our National Health Service can do. I’m delighted to report that both mother and child are doing well. The newly appointed grandad is looking happy and relaxed, but then again he’s been retired for nearly six years. When he’s not doting over his tiny grandson, he’s playing golf, or surfing near his home at Newquay, or planning the next big overseas trip to some distant exotic location, a recipe for looking happy. We all look happy and relaxed after long careers in the education sector. If on any given day we’re feeling particularly old and decrepit, we like to mingle with those of our former colleagues who are still chained to the grindstone so they can tell us that we look ten years younger than we did when we were at the pump handle, weighed down by so many years of disillusionment. Even with the pasty Irish complexion I inherited from my own dear old Grandad and regular applications of factor 50 sun block, I have something approaching a ruddy perma-tan these days.
I'd already been here for a number of hours, having fulfilled another social engagement by walking over the headland from Holywell Bay to join my daughter at nearby West Pentire and its host of bright red poppies. With my two year old granddaughter we built sandcastles and sploshed about in the shallows, looking for interesting shells and the occasional green glint of sea glass. They'd left towards the end of the afternoon. Mark was arriving at six, and I reckoned that by half past seven I'd be alone again, armed with the camera bag. It was the first time I'd been here in eighteen months or more, which is crazy when it's so close to home and I almost always leave the place with at least one image that makes me happy. I mean really, what am I thinking of, not coming here at every available opportunity? How far would I need to go before I found another pair of rocks that look as good as this together?
The evening was partly about planning for shots I hoped to capture in the coming winter months. Some of them have been ruled out, while others need a second look. There's one composition in particular that I'm quite excited about, but I'm going to have to be patient and wait for the right time. I think you're going to like it too. At least I hope so because it's a bit of an effort to get there and it’s going to feel very windswept up on those cliffs in December. We’ll return to that one then if all goes well. Once I’d tried a few different subjects, I moved back to the dunes, scurrying from one mound to the next while an envelope of golden light peered through the clouds as if it were deciding whether or not to show its face. Eventually I settled on top of a grassy tuft and promised myself I wouldn’t move again until I was finished. Taken around three quarters of an hour before sunset, this was about as golden as it got, although I carried on shooting into the blue hour. It’s never an easy place to call time on.
At the start of this tale I mentioned the title didn’t I? I suppose I need to come full circle and wrap that one up then. Well as I headed back towards the van for the drive home, I couldn’t help overhearing the conversation as I walked past a family marching towards the beach from the direction of the campsite. Maybe they’d just arrived in Cornwall, because Dad was keen to show his kids the view of “Poldark’s Rock.” My friend who lives in nearby Crantock calls them “The Chicks,” whereas most of us know these twin icons as Carter’s Rocks or Gull Rocks. But thanks to a certain TV drama that returned to our screens a few years ago, it seems that there are people out there who think of Poldark’s Rock when they come to Holywell Bay. Although quite clearly there are two islets covered in gulls, and because I’m an insufferable pedant, these people really need to be telling their children about Poldark’s Rocks. I’m sticking to Carter’s though. But whatever you want to call them, they’re a very compelling reason to come here a bit more often than I do. There’s that winter composition to return to for starters, even if there won’t be any tourists around, waiting to tell me what I should be calling it.

G'day everyone! As I've studied and been more educated about Interior Design, I've come to understand and learn about what the main focus and strategy is,
behind Interior Design, or Architecture alone. Nature is very important,
it enhances the chemical of where the structure stands, you have to respect natures well being to then accomplish and create a building on mothers land. Once you've accomplished then you will be able to understand it's stance.
Interior Design is mostly inspired by Fashion, the skin complexion of the models
which stand upright, within the landscape, the two define each other and create a
storyline somehow, and usually the Designer will influence the Internals by bringing in the depths of the 'exterior'
such as landscape, but Fashion also allows an Interior Designer to grasp a space, like additional emotions, setting a mood for instincts.
A mid-dry grounds, with weeds of thorn bushes, and long grass, climbing up through the sand dunes, as the wind blows out, swooping down over the rocks,
and the distant town calling out, the red rock, the white sand, the crisp fresh, dry,
sounds of a nature taking its toll. The models stand free, with the wind relapsing itself, through
their hair, clothing with no branding or tagging, to be detached from the day to day routine, and to just connect with the mother nature.
The exterior of the structure was designed by myself, but with the help of a dear man, Thomaz Mulloy,
he was able to transform, the structure and make it into a high definition build with nice quality textures. The build wasn't inspired by anyone but nature,
it's wind protected, meaning the build stands tall at 8 meters high, it's shaped like an 'A' being a windbreaker at the front, protecting the front and back from
strong wind storms, but on peaceful days it looks rather beautiful, with its mighty strength standing but a simple structure to not blind and distract its purpose of being there.
As for the Interior of the space, I've really wanted to respect the exterior landscape by incorporating the Interior colour pallet to be flush, in materials, textures and of course the colour range that I have chosen. Warm soft off-whites,
with rusty worn leather accents, a minimal pattern with tribal print work. The structure is bare to a minimum with wooden features to nitpick from the exterior, to flow into the interior, with the pine and oak trimmings. Minimal greenery but gives the interior some life.

Obviously a "cool name" thought up by some marketing department that have never "lived the life" .
What next -
Phrase book was published in 1831 - so very early 200 years ago. The entry showing is how to make a request for a wet nurse... This should remind us that women travelled with young babies or even soon after giving birth and those who could afford it would hire a wet nurse for their baby. You can just about see that the requirement is for someone 'young and robust, who has a good complexion...... and whose milk is not very old'. Obviously the requirements are adressing the health of the wet mother.

Absolutely loving playing around with Black and White, it gives the image such a different feel, and sometimes I find can save it. This is one of those examples.
I feel my editing have come some way since I first started, looking back through old photos it can be quite shocking at times.
This shot was taken outdoors in harsh sunlight and not a very pretty background, gotta love post processing!
