I ordered this orchid as Ophrys speculum, but it turned out to be something in the scolopax complex of species and subspecies with my best guess being Ophrys scolopax ssp. voluta. In any event, it's still a beautiful plant.

Torre Annunziata (identified as the ancient Oplontis: see on Pleiades), Villa B (identified on the basis of a seal ring, as of "Lucius Tertius Crassus"; see on Pleiades)
The first phases of Oplontis Villa B ("of L. Tertius Crassus") date to the early 1st c. BCE, though the major construction can be dated to the end of that century, with later interventions in the middle of the 1st c. CE, all destroyed and buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 CE. Although conventionally called a 'villa', the form of the complex as currently known differs from the usual villa type, and it seems to served industrial and commercial purposes. The main feature of the excavated complex is a central courtyard flanked by a two-story colonnade in Tufo Grigio di Nocera. Research has shown that in antiquity the sea arrived very close to the south side of the complex, where at least two phases of mole structures have been excavated.
