Completely out of focus. Completely lost my balance today. Completely lost "hope" for a moment.
Are we allowed to lose hope.. Even for a tiny moment?

Not completely accidental, I was aware of the moon's position and tried to focus on / frame any birds passing in front of it (which is easier said than done!).
Fly me to the moon
Let me play among the stars
Let me see what spring is like
On a, Jupiter and Mars
Well Jupiter is a gas planet with no hard surface and extremely cold and whilst Mars may be almost habitable in the day - it is also very cold at night. Neither of course have a breathable atmosphere. So maybe see what spring is like in Boca Rotan instead.
This is a crop from another shot in a completely different context but noticing his Collingwood Football Club logo I re-imagined him as one of the many long-suffering lifetime supporters who never miss a home game and face frustration and disappointment year after year.
Stately standing among the prairie, the New Vision Co-Op at Miloma can be seen for miles. The UP was completely dead on this day with nothing happening west of Mankato, so I took the effort to go as far as Miloma to see the former Conrail SW1200 that works this site. I am glad the facility didn't have a delivery of grain hoppers, so the unit was accessible and photogenic.

The Bristol Bolingbroke was a maritime patrol aircraft and trainer used by the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War. It was produced by Fairchild-Canada, and it was a license-built version of the Bristol Blenheim Mk IV bomber. The Bristol Fairchild Bolingbroke is developed from Bristol Blenheim.
In Finland, the sole surviving original Blenheim in the world, a Mk IV registered as BL-200 of the Finnish Air Force, has been completely restored and is now on display at the Aviation Museum of Central Finland at Tikkakoski.
Bridges are a very popular photography subject and rightfully so as they tend to be very impressive structures. Aside from that, on a completely different level, it is also the symbolism behind a bridge that may be so intriguing: something that bridges a gap, something that brings people together. That was the idea behind the name of Boston's iconic bridge. This is Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge, named after a local civic leader and civil rights activist who championed in "Building bridges between peoples". The design of the bridge is reflecting the nearby Bunker Hill memorial, which I will show in a future post, and that's the story behind the second part of its name. It is 436 meters long, 86 meters high and it carries Interstate 93 across Charles river. What I found interesting is that it's a double decker, meaning the 5 nortbound lanes are sitting on top of the 5 southbound lanes.
Another take on the bridge can be seen here:

Tonight you're mine completely
You give your love so sweetly
Tonight the light of love is in your eyes
Will you love me tomorrow?
Is this a lasting treasure?
Or just a moment's pleasure?
Can I believe the magic of your sighs?
Will you still love me tomorrow?
Tonight with words unspoken
And you say that I'm the only one
But will my heart be broken
When the night meets the morning sun?
I'd like to know that your love
Is love I can be sure of
So tell me now, and I won't ask again
Will you still love me tomorrow?

Almost completely black feathered with long, broad wings, widely spread hand wings and a small, unfeathered red head.
They detect fresh carrion with their well-developed sense of smell and often eat dead animals on the road.

We drove over to Christchurch this morning and had a walk alongside the river Avon. We managed to see some ducklings and cygnets
This scenery is completely real but it needed a focal point not just a lone road–i.e. a person, a model to represent newness. I also needed to expand my Photoshop skills for post-edits. Kick the tires. See what this editing software can do. So I asked Adobe Photoshop's artificial intelligence image generator to provide a bride and groom. Wallah, let me introduce you to soon-to-be Mr. and Mrs. AI. Pretty good, Adobe, but that couple does not look entirely real yet so I better keep them small.
Almost though.
Yes, those are gravestones that align the road. Those graves in this cemetery accentuate the ephemeral cherry tree blossoms in this photo that will soon be gone. Cherry blossoms symbolize the temporary brilliance of life and its shortness. I know. Grim. But that's life. Sorry Mr. & Mrs. AI, chances are that you'll divorce. You might have a lethal accident or if not that, you'll certainly die as your equipment degrades and stops. Or will you?
This picture was taken at Rügen, the largest peninsula in Germany, located in the Baltic Sea. It was about 45 minutes before the sunrise, you can still see stars, but the horizon is already starting to glow. It was an especially clear, winter cold night, but clouds forming at the horizon.
Several exposure times were attempted, this one, with 1 second, was chosen since the Baltic Sea was, while flattened, not completely flat, but still some waves visible, creating more light in the foreground due to the reflection of the sea bridge (pier) lamps.

Completely unexceptional weather & light but what a wonderful place Mont St Michel is!
This is a quick snapshot taken with my iPhone while on holiday this week in France. I’ll see what the photos taken with my big camera look like when we get home.
This was my first visit since the causeway was altered and a bridge installed and it’s a big improvement, especially the removal of the big car park that used to be at the foot of the island.

A completely unexpected encounter when a group of around six parakeets landed in some trees at Marton Mere, Blackpool, UK.
for some reason, i just cant fall completely in love with this photo, but its the best i could do given all of the circumstances, and for that i truly appreciate it.
anyway, in case you havent noticed, my photography is extremely autobiographical and this image is no exception. i was inspired to create this by my papa (grandfather), though strangely enough part of me wants him not to see it due to my choice in attire. ;) but my papa is one of the most important people in my life, and i love him so dearly. im a lot like him, and he is someone who definitely taught me to dream, and to be persistent. he continues to teach me beautiful things everyday, with his wisdom and charm. but one thing that makes me more heartbroken than anything in the world, is his health. i mean, things could be a lot worse, but he has had two heart attacks and has talked about how he has accepted death - hes lived a good life that he has loved, and again, that is something i admire deeply. its not that i fear death, necessarily, because i dont. i know my own spirituality and i wouldnt be scared of my own death; but losing someone i love is foreign to me and THAT is what terrifies me sometimes. i dont know how i could live without my papa, but someday ill have no choice but to learn.
so long story short, here is this character who has accepted her demise - this image is intended to be peaceful, and i hope that comes across. death, like all things, has a beautiful side.
this is also the first proper self portrait ive done in months! its different being on both sides of the lens, and i can say that i sort of miss it. my boyfriend and i drove out to the beach at sunrise and watching the sun come up over the ocean, and watching the huge waves crash in was so inspiring. though it was far too cold to be laying in the water... (a solid 34 degrees)
oh yea, and florida was fun. :)
These completely wild mountain goats are found on Fuerteventura. And encountered them while looking for the Egyptian vultures. Was a little bit sketchy walking past this beast that kept on eyeing me up. I was expecting it to charge as young was near by. But thankfully it was chill with me keeping me distance.

My previous post of Pine Lake showed it completely painted with autumn reflections. While admiring the reflections I noticed three Wood Ducks in the center of the lake. They never moved close enough for a detailed shot, but it was a beautiful scene nonetheless. Here I singled out one of the males as it moved across the multi-colored reflections.

Now for something completely different. There are 3 ways to achieve vortex star trails though all require some sort of composite because otherwise the foreground is distorted.
1) In camera, yes it can be done. This requires that you build a device attached to a motor and gears to grab the zoom ring and make tiny changes to the zoom through a sequence of star field shots. Nobody sells such a device so only DIY. For me, no way, my mechanical abilities are zilch.
2) Take a sequence of star trail images over an hour or two and then in software shrink the image as each layer is added to duplicate the in camera zooming using either Photoshop actions or a script.
3) Take one image of a star field and again use software to duplicate and shrink to get the effect. For this image I went for number 3 using a Photoshop Script which can be downloaded free from liketheocean.com/night-photography/scripts-to-make-your-s...
To get my star field I used a single image taken for a standard star trails shot in nearby Arundel a few years ago. As there were not enough stars for the best effect I used copy of selections to a new image and cloning to get a denser star field and leave out the foreground. The script was run after selecting vortex. The foreground was taken in Lanzarote on a coach tour round the National Park where no other vehicles are allowed. The area shown in the image is appropriately enough called Tranquillity valley. The foreground was layered onto the star trails and combined using a layer mask and brush and a selection for precision

This photo captures most of the Chianalea, the shot position can be reached once you have walked completely through the fishing village to the locals Parcheggio area then up to the highway entrance following along the roadway SS18 back towards the town above the Chianalea. A word of warning I took this during the blue hour so between 6am and 7am and there was still a little traffic on the SS18 so I would recommend that if you are interested in this shot location you approach it from the opposite side that I did and you will find a traffic shielded walkway that gets pretty close to where I shot from. In my many years of visiting Italy or frankly any country I can’t remember a more cozy coastal village that I have visited, everything is so perfect you almost feel as if it was custom designed for your viewing pleasure, a dream made real.
I took this on Sept 15th 2023 with my D850 and Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 G2 Lens at 66mm, 1/40s, f2.8 ISO 6400 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia ,Topaz, and DXO

I was planing to upload some urban night shots before I got diverted by the river Severn. So here is a different river, in a completely different type of scene - at dusk. Was quite pleased with this.
Same Place, Different World
Infrared photography has a way of revealing the world in a completely unexpected light—literally. What you’re seeing here isn’t snow, though it may look like a winter scene. This was taken in full sunlight, with spring foliage reflecting infrared light in a way that renders it bright and frosty. It’s one of the strange and beautiful qualities of infrared landscapes become dreamlike, even alien.
With infrared photography, the visible light spectrum is blocked and only infrared light is permitted to pass. The sky shifts to deep bronze, vegetation glows in near white, and shadows fall in unusual ways. It’s all very surreal—and that’s part of the magic.
Same location, same time of year as yesterday’s image, but an entirely different mood. That’s one of the things I love about photography—how a slight change in method can open up a whole new way of seeing.

I completely forgot about all the nice looks I got at this Orange Sulphur butterfly at Whitetail Woods Regional Park in early September. Looking in the folder again just now, I see at least one more I want to save. For some dumb reason I thought THIS might be the time I actually get a photo of an Orange Sulphur's top side –which is a very pretty, pale orange in color, with black borders. Apparently that colorful top side is only ever exposed in flight and never at rest. So far that has definitely been my experience! Dakota County, MN 09/04/22

The mill was built overlooking the Paimpol strike. It also offers a beautiful point of view on the island of Bréhat. By its dominant position, it serves as bitter for sailors.
It has been completely restored, from 1993. The interior visit is very pretty and we can see the operation of a traditional mill. It is the only survivor of the 12 mills which counted the city.

Something completely different from what I normally shoot. I was out for a sunrise shoot at this location, but nothing spectacular happened. I took some shots from the outside and thought, why not have a look inside. So that was my own Urbex exploring. It tell a story, of an old house where someone use to live. It has memories for someone. And now it's a memory for me too :)
"Scattered about London there were just three other buildings of similar appearance and size. So completely did they dwarf the surrounding architecture that from the roof of Victory Mansions you could see all four of them simultaneously. They
were the homes of the four Ministries between which the entire apparatus of government was divided. The Ministry of Truth, which concerned itself with news, entertainment, education, and the fine arts. The Ministry of Peace, which concerned itself with war. The Ministry of Love, which maintained law and order. And the Ministry of Plenty, which was responsible for economic affairs. Their names, in Newspeak: Minitrue, Minipax, Miniluv, and Miniplenty.
The Ministry of Love was the really frightening one. There were no windows in it at all. "

The ominous looking building of the Caixa Geral de Depositos headquarters in Lisbon. It has a definitely totalitarian vibe in daylight, at night it's downright chilling. It has windows after all, but the first time we saw it was at night and it looked completely devoid of them.
