Brothers, Jack, 15 and John Burton, 14, have both snapped up prizes in the recent Durham Wildlife Trust photographic competition when young people were asked to take photos of the Teesdale countryside during the summer holidays.
Jack photographed a moorhen on the river at Gainford, whilst John chose a robin as his subject.
Both boys will receive a framed print of their winning entry – courtesy of Richard Laidler Photography, books and bird box with camera.
As part of the boys’ prize the school also received a bird box with camera and a four camera wildlife CCTV system. It is hoped to be able to link the cameras to the school’s learning gateway.
Jack enjoys wildlife photography and spends most weekends photographing in the countryside. He hopes to eventually make a career of this. John became interested in photography and decided to give it a try after having seen Jack’s work.
The boys said “We are delighted that other students in the Academy will have the opportunity to see wildlife in action in its natural habitat.”
Well, this is my first achievement in my photography hope to be career... its taken me two years to get somewhere but every minute has been worth it! Me and John entered different category's and somehow we both won haha! anyway this is in the Northern Echo newspaper! We were also in the Teasdale one :) And the second image is me n John being presented our awards in one of the school's ground! If you read the article i have put above in the description you will have known what the school won and what me n John won :) I want to thank all my Flickr friend again for all the kind comments and tips they have given me... you know who you are!! Oh and if any of you are wondering which one is which... i'm the older one but i look younger haha got lighter hair and smaller than my little brother haha oh well :) I hope you enjoy the photos i share with you!

Born in 1950, Mukul Panwar, graduated in sculpture from the College of Art Lucknow University. He was the commissioner for Indian Art Exhibition Singapore-2002 under the Culture Exchange Programme between the Government of India and the Singapore Government. He formed part of the Cultural Exchange Programme between India and Greece 2006. Day 1 of the 2018 Sandhurst Military Skills Competition has begun, held at the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY, April 13, 2018.
