Leeds Schools Climbing Competition 2013
A group of St. Mary’s Climbers, under the guidance of Mr Lancaster, recently took part in the Leeds Schools’ Climbing Competition

A group of St. Mary’s Menston Climbers, under the guidance of Mr Lancaster, recently took part in the Leeds Schools’ Climbing Competition at The Depot, Pudsey. The team, consisting of John Cracknell, Cameron Watson, Sam Brownjohn, Ezra Cheng, Hugo Stiles, Romey Parker, Jack Sturgeon, Josh Normington, Charlotte Doherty and Niamh Corkett-Beirne recorded excellent results and came second overall, climbing against teams made up of older students. John Cracknell also took an individual second place.
Well done to all those who took part.

The school choir were entered in a local expat talent competition. They reached the finals which were televised on Suzhou tv. The choir eventually finished second.
Tia was pleased and now believes that she is famous.
This is my brother's dog "Wheels" at a Skyhoundz Disc Dog competition. Wheel's earned First Place for Distance and Accuracy.
Taken at the top gun competition in Lakeland, FL. The competition is invitation only and teams are awarded points based on the realism of the flying and appearance of the plane. The skill and craftsmanship were awesome.
Surfing competition held in Dominica 2010 between surfing clubs from Martinque and Gaudeloupe. Great vibe and a fun day.

An Interclub competition between Nature Warriors, Bury Defence Academy and Accrington Wrestling Club was held at Accrington Academy on Saturday 17th Dec 2022.
Athletes, coaches, volunteers and law enforcement meet at The University of Nevada Reno for the 2014 Special Olympics Nevada Summer Games.
The field portion included shot put, javelin, triple jump, standing long jump and softball toss.

About the Competition
The mission of the Cuban Infrastructure Committee is to promote a high level of engineering and science as they may apply to the future improvement of the island; and to increase public awareness and interest in Cuba’s infrastructure needs.
Objectives
To accomplish this mission, we will:
.- Foster engineering and science education and scholarship;
.- Form specialty subcommittees to conduct research and analyses;
.- Collaborate with other organizations as appropriate; and
.- Disseminate findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
Purpose
The C-AACE/ACAE Cuba Infrastructure Scholarship Competition is intended to promote both:
1.- “real world” analysis and/or design experience for students interested in pursuing an education and/or career in engineering and related sciences; and
2.- improve the body of knowledge on Cuba’s infrastructure in these fields. This scholarship competition invites teams of university-level students from ABET accredited programs to analyze and/or design and present a project meeting the requirements of a problem statement that they have worked on together as a team.

Delfin Molins Mentoring Award
This award recognizes a mentor (Industry and/or Faculty Member) who made a significant contribution in mentoring a student group in the field of engineering as it applies to Cuba’s infrastructure.
Items that will be looked at in making a decision as to who receive the award will be:
.- Significant level of effort in mentoring students at all levels.
.- The number of meetings between the mentor and the student or student group(s).
.- The depth of the information provided to the students by the mentor.
.- The quality of the student(s)’ work product.
.- Other discretionary criteria.
My first staff photograper gig (got free admission and a nice "staff" Tshirt) at a wushu competition in PGH. These are not posed photos, they were taken while the kids were competing. The lighting was horrible in this venue... it was a cavernous hall in a civic arena, very dim, with lighting coming directly from above. To try to manage without a flash I had the ISO bumped up to a ridiculous level (3200), wide aperture (2.8) and relatively slow shutter speed (1/60). Hence, lots of grainy noise, and a lot of blurry shots due to focus and motion. I took almost 950 photos, but only 80 or so are usable. Live and learn. If I have to do this again, I think I'll spend some time learning to shoot and process 12-bit RAW images, as I've read that you can then underexpose (e.g. faster shutter speed in this case) and yet still rescue the dark tones with postprocessing.
