The British Ambassador, Iain Lindsay OBE, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, Sh. Khaled Bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa, attended the concluding ceremony of the Mini Olympics on 14 May at Khalifa Sport City. More than 300 guests were present including members of the sporting community, the schoolchildren who participated in the Mini Olympics and their families.
The Mini-Olympics was launched by the British Embassy and the Bahrain Olympic Committee in April 2012. More than 400 school children representing four Bahraini government and private schools competed in Olympic activities including the long jump, sprint races, football, 4 x 100 metre races as well as an art competition.
At the end of the ceremony, Ambassador Lindsay and Sh. Khaled Bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa awarded medals to the race winners. Ambassador Lindsay commented: “London’s 2012 sporting legacy is to connect school children to the inspirational power of the games and integrate sport into daily lives. The British Embassy is proud to be working with the Bahraini Olympic Committee on the Mini-Olympics, to consolidate the UK and Bahrain’s shared love of sport and to promote the Olympic messages of tolerance and diversity.”
The Robotics team traveled to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to compete in the Midwest Regional Robotics competition. The team, and their robot, made it all the way to the semi-finals!
I attended the Voorhees Business Administration 2010 Competitions for 10 local colleges. Among the events were improv speaking, ad-zapper, singing, essay writing, and rangoli.

I was too captivated by these portrait shots so went out of the topic with heritage buildings as background. With the talented pool of young photographers so a senior citizen newbie has no place here but just enjoying these satisfying shots. Sour grapes?
