Here is a Stanley Bailey #35 transitional plane that I converted to a compass plane by replacing the original Beech base with one made from White Oak. I shaped the bottom (the sole) with a gradual convex front to back and side to side curvature, and I also shaped the blade to match. This is to assist in smoothing out the seat scoops in my rocking chairs.

The new two tone grey scheme, called 'Compass Grey' started to appear on the A-10 in the very late 1990's and replaced the earlier three tone dark grey and green 'European One' scheme.
This compass has been lying around on my table for a while. Decided to clean it and have a go at it.
Well eight compasses....but none pointing the same way due to spinning magnet.
I did run out of hands to spin the magnet and focus the camera.
The exhibit is well used, but that adds, in my opinion, to its charm.
