Another build from the backlog. It was meant to be incorporated in a larger LEGO Ideas project, but there were things I wasn't fully happy with that probably couldn't be solved without starting from scratch. That was something I was not willing to do at that point, so I moved on (or back) to other projects.

The SEAT Ateca is a compact crossover SUV (C-segment) manufactured by Spanish automaker SEAT. To celebrate my 18th birthday, I decided to process one of my favorite Hubble images! This was taken back in 2009 to celebrate the International Year of Astronomy by WFPC2. Given that it was taken by such a low-sensitivity sensor, this image actually had a whole lot of noise to deal with. I spent a while carefully removing hot pixels and cosmic rays to make the image look better. In case you’re wondering what exactly you’re looking at, here’s a little explanation about the galaxies:
Arp 274 is a system of three galaxies that appear to be partially overlapping in the image, although they may be at somewhat different distances. The spiral shapes of two of these galaxies appear mostly intact. The third galaxy at far left is more compact, but shows evidence of star formation. Two of the three galaxies are forming new stars at a high rate. This is evident in the bright blue knots of star formation that are strung along the arms of the galaxy on the right and along the small galaxy on the left. The largest component is located in the middle of the three. It appears as a spiral galaxy, which may be barred. The entire system resides at about 400 million light-years away from Earth in the constellation Virgo. The colours in this image reflect the intrinsic colour of the different stellar populations that make up the galaxies. Yellowish older stars can be seen in the central bulge of each galaxy. A bright central cluster of stars pinpoint each nucleus. Younger blue stars trace the spiral arms, along with pinkish nebulae that are illuminated by new star formation. Interstellar dust is silhouetted against the starry population. The pair of foreground stars on the right are inside our own Milky Way.

I love my Sony RX100. It has over 20 MP, can fit in my pocket, has a great lens, and has a killer watercolor feature. I often find myself taking it with me rather than my Canon 40D DSLR. Most reviews say it's the best pocket digital camera you can buy. But do these compact cameras have a future given the advances in phone cameras? Phone cameras today are able to add so much more functionality via software, it's hard to see how these won't be relics.

Another awsome Sport Compact event at WSID.Loads of cars made the trek from all over Aus to compete.Almost capacity entries on the track & a great selection of hot cars on show.
The presentation standard of Sport Compact drag cars has really amazed me so far this year, with a lot of the top runner track cars looking like prestine show cars with candy pearl paint jobs,tastefull air brushing and graffix and tuff drag spec rims all round. these guys have definatly stepped it up a notch!
Took a whole lot of photo's throughout the day, but unfortunatly forgot my memory backup so was limited to 4G worth of space...Ahhhrr.

These CN C40-8M's are funky, yet cool to look at. The shortened trucks, squashed yet spacious cab, cowl carbody, and even paint schemes make them a desirable catch.
One such example, CN C40-8M 2405, leads CSX K426 as it holds short of the signals at Nicholas Rd near Dayton, OH.

Yesterday (za 10/10) i decided to go and check out the Clingendael park. It's a wonderful and huge place with a rich history prior to it becoming a public park (1953). In addition it has the largest Japanese garden in the Netherlands, which i unfortunately didn't visit. The reason for not visiting is that it got rather small paths and a lot of people. Even tho Clingendael is a great place, i wouldn't recommend going there for the purpose of capturing insects. It's great for mushrooms in autumn and flowers in spring and summer, but it's quite busy and not really the place for spotting wildlife. Next week i'll explore the Cronesteyn, which somebody recommended to me.
