This is a funny looking car I saw while touring around Munich. It's a one seater that has four wheels.

I picked up a feather left over by snow geese in my backyard on a winter day. I have it saved at home.

Last Sunday I saw the warm morning light on it and I took a close up picture.

Happy Tuesday!

Taken during a Meetup with the Cincinnati Camera & Photography Club held at E-Town Landfill & Recycling's yard in the North Bend suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio.

From the web:

Candid eye contact street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. Having just replaced some batteries into his compact camera, he asked me if I had got the shot I wanted after he caught me pressing the shutter. I just loved the composition and light for this shot, the horizontal and vertical lines in the architecture against the multi-directional wrinkles on his skin and clothing. It's always nice to share a smile with a random subject after they catch you shooting. Enjoy!

These CN C40-8M's are funky, yet cool to look at. The shortened trucks, squashed yet spacious cab, cowl carbody, and even paint schemes make them a desirable catch.

One such example, CN C40-8M 2405, leads CSX K426 as it holds short of the signals at Nicholas Rd near Dayton, OH.

Yesterday (za 10/10) i decided to go and check out the Clingendael park. It's a wonderful and huge place with a rich history prior to it becoming a public park (1953). In addition it has the largest Japanese garden in the Netherlands, which i unfortunately didn't visit. The reason for not visiting is that it got rather small paths and a lot of people. Even tho Clingendael is a great place, i wouldn't recommend going there for the purpose of capturing insects. It's great for mushrooms in autumn and flowers in spring and summer, but it's quite busy and not really the place for spotting wildlife. Next week i'll explore the Cronesteyn, which somebody recommended to me.

Small, compact hummingbird found on the east slope of Andes from central Colombia to central Peru. Male is unmistakable; look for long pointed tail, wirelike crest, short straight bill, and white band across the rump. Female is less spectacular, but still has the obvious white rump band and a white mustache patch. Occurs in the foothills from around 600 to 1,600 m. Can be seen at flowering shrubs (especially purple Verbena) and trees.

This one was photographed in Ecuador on a photography tour led by Juan Carlos Vindas of Neotropic Photo Tours.

Once upon an Arch so bored...

Well, once again boredom has me doing weird things in PMG. This turned out surprisingly well, I think, as it looked pretty butt ugly for the majority of the time I was working on it. Towards the end some of the details pulled it together. Still a pretty ugly and unwieldy looking thing.

Hard to believe our Bailey Puggins is 13 years old! She still looks like a puppy to me!

Yes, I am learning new things on my American adventure. Apparently these are what small cars are in America. I know this, because they all park on the compact spots.

This has to be the case surely...as the alternative can only be that vast numbers of people who drive these vehicles are completely illiterate.

Mass Coastal Railroad's Taunton based train MC-3 is working in the compact little Wharf Yard tucked up beneath the shadow of the massive Braga Bridge down by Battleship Cove as they pull and spot loads of flour on the State Pier. The cars are transloaded here and trucked a couple miles south to the Gold Medal Bakery because the tracks that pass directly beside the plant are OOS beyond Ferry Street.

MC 2012 is a rebuilt EMD GP38-3 that began life in Oct. 1966 as a GP40 for the Milwaukee Road numbered 199. It latered passed to the Soo Line and then after retirement was derated and rebuilt as a lease unit numbered GMTX 2685 and then after that spent time working for BNSF before coming here about a year ago in July 2022.

Looming above is the 1.25 mile long Charles M. Braga Jr. Memorial Bridge which carries Interstate 195 over the Taunton River at its confluence with Mount Hope Bay. Opened in 1966 the top of its towers rise 254 ft above the water and the bridge provides 135 ft of clearance beneath for vessels. Connecting the town of Somerset with Fall River it is the second largest bridge in the state topped only by the Tobin Bridge carry US Route 1 over the Mystic River between Boston and Chelsea.

Located on the Taunton River along Water Street, the Fall River State Pier has two deep water berths and on dock rail and a 96,000 square foot terminal building. Owned by the commonwealth it has bee operated under contract by the not for profit Fall River Line Pier Company since 1946.
