View from Fort Point, Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, California, USA
The Golden Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Golden Gate strait, the one-mile-wide (1.6 km), three-mile-long (4.8 km) channel between San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean.
The structure links the American city of San Francisco, California – the northern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula – to Marin County, carrying both U.S. Route 101 and California State Route 1 across the strait.
It has been declared one of the Wonders of the Modern World by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

I decided to look at my digital archives, to recover and reprocess some old straight-out-of the point and shoot camera jpgs.
I'll post one picture every thursday, with the motto "Great places, bad cameras"

The lighting at the Taronga Zoo must have been particularly good in this enclosure. I have looked closely at this jpeg and was quite amazed at how well the small sensor on this camera captured the light and detail. Both this and my photograph of the Penguins are shots that I would hardly have been able to better with all the power of my Nikon D850. I am so glad I found them. Along with the Meerkat from yesterday, they are keepers.
This Green Iguana (Iguana iguana) is an outstanding specimen. www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/reptiles/facts/green-i...

These are not the same poppies that I photographed with their buds still tightly closed (please see the first comment, if you like), but they grew in the same front garden across the street. I'm glad I stopped by there a few times while heading for errands, because right now, most of this delightful bloom is gone. The lilies: deranged; the poppies: ceased. And anything that could follow next isn't ready yet. We are in the tight grip of the "Schafskälte" (which one might translate as "sheep's cold/chill"), a cold snap and Central European meteorological singularity that occurs around mid-June. Not every June, but definitely this one; it's grey and brrrrr.
This small front garden is special. There is a (truly) tiny house, more of a hut, actually, and next to it a heritage-protected small apartment house, and both decay away, but are in use/inhabited. This small hut, which here provided the bright background, was once used as a recording studio (years ago). Who uses it now and what for, I don't know, but I often see a Vespa parked right in front of the house, and they do a nice job with the planting each year.
And again, I'm pleasantly surprised by the amount of background blur the 1" sensor (and at F/4.5) creates, rendering even the lily blurry.
Have a nice weekend ahead, dear Flickr friends!
Early in the afternoon a rain storm blew over, messing up plans for beach goers who were left to scurry for cover.

A slightly battered but still beautiful tulip I found in a front garden around the corner just the other day. When I took the photo, perched rather uncomfortably (and therefore quite wobbly) halfway under a shrub, I didn't even notice the tiny visitor on one of the petals because I was all concentrated on keeping the camera as still as possible. I slightly blew the photo up in Gigapixel AI so the visitor is better visible when you zoom in.
Taken on a first short photo stroll with my "new old" Lumix LX100 Mark II which I just bought used in very good condition (apparently no dust spots on the sensor, only minor signs of usage, but I haven't checked the shutter count, yet, because it's a little complicated) because the zoom motor on my old, beloved LX100 is getting quirky. The slightly better resolution of the Mark II's 21 MP sensor (of which the camera only uses 17 MP due to Panasonic's so-called "multi-aspect sensor" – why, Panasonic, why????) yields beautiful details and a sharp, crisp rendering even nicer than that of the predecessor. So far, I'm very happy with my first used camera purchase :)
Happy Wednesday Macro/Mittwochsmakro, everyone!

Summer went by, and I didn't post a single image with a boat on the Spree. So I thought I'd fix that ;) Since it's also Germany's National Holiday, German Unity Day, on October 3rd, I picked a classic scene from Berlin's government district. Often photographed, often seen (also in my stream), and yet, at least to me, it never gets boring.
I was undecided between this image and a darker scene (especially in light of the recent elections in two of our federal states). Still, I thought I'd rather go with this lighter, brighter scene, since not everything in "D" is bad, and, I think, democracy is still strong (and we should do everything that it stays strong).
Happy weekend, dear Flickr friends!

Dark times require us to shine our Light even brighter... for ourselves as well as others.
Hello my friends!
Taken at 04:22 on an early, misty morning last May :-)
These are always beautiful sights to me... right before sunrise, when that special light begins to fill the sky.
Sometimes there is a dark atmosphere out over the water, especially during early hours... beautifully eerie in its own way.
I wanted this one in B&W to help project that sensation.
It's often darkest right before the light... and I do plan on bringing you 'The Light' too! ;-)
Truly hope you find something interesting or enjoyable in these works :-) ☺
Thank you friends for all your lovely Comments & Faves, you're 100% awesome & you have my appreciation!
Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead... visit you soon!!!

Fujifilm Finepix F30
From this Mountain top, there is a wonderful 360 degree view, one of the very best views in Norway ! This place I have visited many times, a great joy each time. The peak is 1527 meter (5010 feet) above sealevel. Distances can be very hard to guess in the Mountains, from the Rock to the Lake there are 6.2 Km (3.9 miles), the Lake is 1050 meter (3445 feet) above sealevel, the Lake is 9.2 km (5.8 miles) long.
When the Fujifilm Finepix F30 was new, it was the best compact camera you could get.
I was going through some old computer files the other day and found a cache of photographs taken with my little Panasonic compact cameras. One of those I later converted to infrared. None of these photos were intended for anything other than sending to friends or as travel snaps.
But some of these photos deserved a closer look I felt, and so although they were only small jpegs I processed them as TIF files through Capture One 23. Occasionally I'll post one or two of them. Although this specific camera is no longer in use (and had a sensor the size of a tiny fingernail), it does show what can be done in the right conditions, even with a simple camera.
