Just another trip to work, or to one of my home cities.... I get to forgetting. It all moves, so fast, and my heart's in so many places.
Judging by the empty plastic rubbish bag blowing in the breeze, by the covered portion of platform 1, I would suggest that this is early in the morning. They're well brought-up people around here and ALWAYS put their rubbish in the bin, so Mary, the multi-functional Booking Clerk and Bottle-Washer, must have just done her rounds and put out fresh bin bags.
We had some over night rain too, it would appear.
Since retiring in 2015, the daily commute has become just a fading memory to me. There are some aspects of it that I do miss though - the relief at seeing that my train hasn't been cancelled being among them!
8:54 am: Donut cart at 42nd Street and 2nd Avenue. I usually prefer the cart at the corner of 44th and 2nd - I think his muffins are better:-)
This morning I awoke early and set out. I eschewed the train and cycled to work, about 29 miles. Kinnoull Hill, just before Perth, was a sting in the tail but the ride was a pleasure. Endorphins were going strong and I decided to cycle home too.
I had to make couple of commutes on trains recently. Long journeys, and between reading more of my book (For Esme with Love and Squalor by J D Salinger, if you're interested), I thought I'd record what I saw. I'd have been very reluctant to do this with an SLR, but the little mobile was well up to the task. "Retro Camera" was the App of choice in this case!
