After work, I sat stopped at the railroad crossing for a half hour in freezing temperatures, running increasingly late for the world Christm--Holiday party. There was a spectacular flock of birds flying over the long line of cars, but my crappy camera didn't pick them up.
my bike commute varies day-to-day, but this is the type of road I seek out: shady, tree-lined boulevard with dedicated bike & scooter lane (to the right).
This is close to my apartment, in the former French Concession. I wouldn't exactly call it "Parisian" but the streetscape does reflect that legacy.

From September 2007 (!) to February 2011 I took a 4 hour round-trip commute via public transit to go to work. This is about 80% of my monthly passes, shot crappily because I like to pretend I have a low-rent camera phone.
Multiply each one by about $85. Better than a car for sure, but ouch.
I walk about 25 minutes to work now and realise how that commute was slowly killing/crushing me, emotionally and physically. Eh, a body's gotta work!
