Maj. Tommy Vu of the Oregon Army National Guard reclaimed his Guinness World Record by completing an astounding 1,027 chest-to-ground burpees in one hour at the Lancaster Physiq Fitness in Salem, Oregon, on October 5, 2024. Supported by family, fellow National Guard members, and gym staff, Vu's feat showcased not only his exceptional physical endurance but also the strong community spirit within the Oregon National Guard. Beyond personal achievement, Maj. Vu's record attempt raised funds for charitable causes, exemplifying the balance between military service and pursuing extraordinary personal goals that the Oregon National Guard encourages.

Called “Power to Feed Long Island,” this initiative is aimed at raising the equivalent of 21,000 meals (for 2021). Dozens of Long Islanders dropped off non-perishable food items, pet food and personal care items at the collection site at Stop & Shop in Massapequa, donating hundreds of meals. PSEG Long Island joins nearly a thousand organizations, companies, and individuals across the nation in recognition of National Energy Efficiency Day (EE Day) by announcing it has helped customers save more than 2.1 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity since Jan. 1, 2014.

 

An event was held on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021 (EE Day) to share information on rebates and incentives available for PSEG Long Island customers who go greener.

 

Helen Keller National Center (HKNC) participated in the PSEG Long Island Commercial Efficiency Program, receiving more than $85,000 in rebates for upgrading to efficient indoor and outdoor lighting. This has saved the organization an estimated 460,000 kWh in electricity and more than $73,500 per year. In addition, HKNC received a $38,995 rebate for installing a high efficiency “magnetic bearing centrifugal chiller,” used to provide comfort cooling to the facilities throughout the campus.

During the holiday season, PSEG Long Island employees collected and donated toys to distribe to children in the community, wrote out holiday greetings for neighbors on Long Islanders and in the Rockaways, and more.

More than 50 legislative staffers visited the 169th Fighter Wing to explore the complex mission and training requirements that our Airmen support at McEntire Joint National Guard Base, South Carolina Air National Guard, Dec. 13, 2023. Guests experienced F-16 fighter jets takeoff up close and learned about the various weapons it can deploy, discovered the skill it takes to work air traffic control, and learned about base safety and security from the fire department and security forces. Visiting with state and federal representatives is critical to operational sustainment and ensuring support for the future of the 169th Fighter Wing and JNGB McEntire.
