Last January, this iconic lighthouse was destroyed in a fierce winter storm. It's not the first time this happened. Since the original was constructed in 1903, it's been knocked down by waves as well as fire. On this occasion, the townsfolk came together to fund a replacement but moved it back several feet from the breakwater on a new foundation. Perhaps that will spare the wooden structure from the worst of the waves as they come crashing ashore in a gale. It still looks a bit unfinished and I'm hoping it will be shingled by cedar shakes as the previous version was.
As for my composition, I was looking to recreate some of the big rollers that come into the harbor from Georgian Bay - using the waves of stone on an adjacent beach.

The photograph captures a poignant moment of vulnerability. A homeless man, slumped against the seat of a public transportation bus in Oxnard, California, appears to be lost in a troubled sleep. His weary posture and the subtle tension in his features suggest a life marked by hardship and uncertainty. The scene evokes a sense of both sadness and a quiet desperation, highlighting the invisible struggles faced by many individuals living on the margins of society.

CNN, Atlanta, October 26, 2012 – Staff Sgt. Clay Ragsdale assigned to the Georgia Army National Guard’s Military Funeral Honors Detachment was acknowledged for his service to his country during a live broadcast on CNN hosted by Natasha Curry.
The show started off with Natasha asking questions about his service in Afghanistan, where he sustained injuries from an Improvised explosive device (IED) in 2009 while assigned to the 48th Infantry Brigade.
In the middle of the interview, Sheamus, the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion, walked onto the studio floor and, to Ragsdale’s surprise, Sheamus was there to acknowledge him for all his service to the country. Sheamus then presented him with tickets for an all expense paid trip for two for four nights in New York City with two tickets to attend Wrestlemania.
“Ragsdale is a well-deserving Soldier. It is an honor for us to coach, counsel, and mentor the great Soldiers we have, and he is definitely one of them. He is a great Soldier, leader, and father," said Sgt. Maj. Bryan Hise, Georgia State Coordinator, Casualty Operations.
Also, as a show of respect, Sheamus let Ragsdale hold the WWE Championship belt during the interview.
“It was all an awesome honor, and I’m happy that I received it but also humbled, since there are so many others who deserved it just as much as I did,” said Ragsdale.
