Mixing it up! Residents from Main St. and Elm St. celebrated Community Service Day with SUNY Delhi College students by baking cookies for residents of the Delhi Senior Apartments.

Last week representatives from Carl Sandburg College visited with first-graders at Steele Elementary School to assist alumna first-grade teacher and alumna Faviana Moreno '16 with a lesson. The topic asked: "what is a community," and went through examples establishing the importance of community and how a community is made up of not only places to go and things to do, but that it takes people that help a community function. We enjoyed the chance to visit with so many students and also be one of the first groups to utilize the beautiful outdoor courtyard area!
How the Internet has provided us with "communities of practice" over time. Creating bonds that are not bound by distance.

The 27th annual Community Christmas program for the Riverbend community in Illinois is collecting items for those in need during the holiday season. The program, sponsored by United Way's Southwest Illinois Division and The Telegraph, runs through December 15, when dozens of boxes will be picked up from local businesses, organizations, churches and schools to be distributed to 15 local agencies. Items being collected include non-perishable food, new clothes and coats, winter weather necessities like gloves, hats and scarves, blankets, towels, baby care items, hygiene items, and new toys.
