Bastion St Jaume
The "Nomad" by Jaume Plensa
Acquired by the City of Antibes with the participation of the State, the Regional Acquisition Fund for Museums (Ministry of Culture and Communication), the Association of Friends of the Picasso Museum, the Anonymous Society 'Mixed Economy of Port Vauban, and the International Yacht Club of Antibes.
The perennial plant in 2010 the Nomad monumental sculpture on the terrace of the Bastion St Jaume, control of the City of Antibes to the artist Jaume Plensa.
Indeed, already introduced in this place in 2007 as part of the special exhibition organized by the Picasso museum and dedicated to the artist, the great nomad of Antibes, in which visitors can enter, returns as the standing invitation a journey in which space the sculpture - made of emptiness and silence - beyond that of the material that constitutes it, opens and unfolds around her giant figurehead of the bastion.

The "Nomad" by Jaume Plensa: the meeting of a work and a place
In Antibes, the great "Nomade" by Jaume Plensa returned overlooking the harbor (the statue is 8 meters high). Exposed to this location in the summer of 2007, the sculpture was immediately integrated into the beautifully restored bastion Saint-Jaume. An almost magical alchemy had taken place and this encounter between a place and a work was then celebrated by thousands of visitors. All were attracted by the presence of this monumental statue sitting on the ramparts of the city, the imaginary gaze plunged into the vastness of the Mediterranean. Giant figurehead of the bastion Saint-Jaume, the Nomad, a diaphanous any composition in white letters, was necessary as a permanent invitation to travel in space and in the sculpture itself. The statue that was exposed in 2007 was sold, the city decided to extend this magical encounter.
She ordered the same sculpture. The Nomad has recovered well, on the bastion Saint-Jaume, the place now will be his in the framework of a permanent exhibition at the Picasso Museum. The order of the statue by the city of Antibes was unanimously approved by the City Council. Its financing comes, in particular, by a substantial state support to which is added the financial support of the Friends of the Picasso Museum, the Société Anonyme d'Economie Mixte from Port Vauban and the International Yacht Club d'Antibes. It is this monumental sculpture and Jaume Plensa exhibition on which were inaugurated in May by Jean Leonetti, deputy mayor of Antibes, in the presence of Frédéric Mitterrand.
On the occasion of this facility and the coming of the artist (the latter Catalan artist is also the author of the luminous Buddhas Place Massena in Nice), the Picasso Museum in fact presented in parallel, a major exhibition " Jaume Plensa soul of 1998-2009 words. " It was first unveiled drawings of the sculptor. Less known facet of Plensa, but equally exciting, this exhibition chose to highlight the last ten years, through 90 works on paper sometimes imposing to a variety of formats and techniques. A work that is more like the world of charcoal drawing and the color is definitely absent.

That said, there are a couple of additional requirements for your end-of-month collage:
1) one or more colour images
2) one or more black-and-white images
3) one or more close-up/macro images
4) one or more high-contrast images (dark blacks, bright whites)
5) one or more shots post-processed in a "vintage" style
Please note that some images may fill more than one category, e.g., you could have a vintage high-contrast black-and-white close-up. I'm sure you can have fun with that!

We had to special order this super expensive air conditioning solvent. The stuff has a very particular temperature range it works well in.
When it showed up from UPS in an insulated container, I asked our receptionist if she could throw it in the fridge. She asked why she was putting a can of chemicals in the fridge. I told her "well, it works best when it's cold". Somehow she thought it would work even better if she put it in the freezer.
A $186 can of ruined solvent later, we all had a pretty good laugh.
