This 1930 19 story building originally housed the Fair Department Store and was called the Fair Building upon completion. The WSL sign was removed soon after the photo was taken. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram moved into the building in 2011 and renamed it the Star-Telegram Building.
It's been almost two years since my last run-in with a security guard, so I guess my track record isn't as bad as it may have been for some people.
"You can’t take pictures here," said the security guard, attempting to look slightly imposing and official. "That's OK, I’ll just step back to the sidewalk then," I replied knowingly. To which he retorted, "It’s illegal to take photos of a bank."
Having gotten the shot I wanted, I simply laughed to myself and continued on my way home.
I mean, seriously, come on. Some of us have done our part to enlighten ourselves on the laws and rights of a photographer in Canada. Why can't the people training the security guards do the same?

At the 2013 NOPI Nationals car show and race at the Atlanta Dragway, Commerce, Georgia, USA on Sept. 22, 2013.
Both of these plants are owned and operated by Exelon Corporation. Exelon recently requested that the Illinois Commerce Commission grant them a rate hike which basically means that the ratepayers will subsidize the continued operation of these unprofitable units. This will be at the expense of production tax credits for renewables like solar, wind, etc.
These plants are aging, brittle and dangerous. A Fukushima-like meltdown at one of these facilities would render much of northern Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa uninhabitable for the rest of time. Chicago would be threatened. Prime crop land would be destroyed. The fresh water of Lake Michigan would be poisoned forever.
The technology exists to move to renewables. The political will to employ that technology does not. A large portion of our energy needs could be met by safe energy methods like solar panels and windmills. We already possess a giant nuclear fusion plant: our sun. Sunlight and windpower do not present an omnipresent danger to the health of every living creature on this planet or to the continued viability of the planet itself.
The Sutter Mutual Water Company is the primary reason Kirkville is still a dot on the map. It serves water users on over 45,000 acres of farmland in the Sutter Basin of the Sacramento Valley.
