Every Autumn as my michaelmas daisy comes into flower, I have a feast of photographic opportunities, in much the same way as the many of the insects do, which come to feed on them, such as this drone fly.
Drone Flies are European hoverflies. They are also found in North America, having been introduced there, where they are now widespread.
The larva has an elongated tail which resembles that of a rat. They thrive in drainage ditches, pools around manure piles, sewage, and other similar places, badly polluted with organic matter, feeding on the abundant bacteria living in these places.
The adult fly that emerges from the pupa is harmless. It mimics the drone honey bee, gaining a degree of protection by doing so. Like other hoverflies, they are common visitors to flowers, especially in late summer and autumn, and help to pollinate them.

Rufous Whistler
Scientific Name: Pachycephala rufiventris
Description: The Rufous Whistler is a stocky bird with a large head, short stubby bill and a narrow, relatively long tail with a square or slightly forked tip. The sexes differ, with the male dark-grey above with a white throat, black breast and a reddish underbody. Many males also have a black face mask (except in northern subspecies). Females are dull grey to brown, with streaked underparts. Young birds are much redder than adults and have heavily streaked underparts.
Similar species: The male Rufous Whistler is quite distinctive with its reddish underparts, grey head and white throat, combined with black mask (over most of range). The female and immature birds can be distinguished from most other whistlers by heavy streaking on the underparts.
Distribution: Found throughout mainland Australia, the Rufous Whistler is also found in New Caledonia.
Habitat: The Rufous Whistler is found in forests, woodlands and shrublands, with a shrubby understorey. Is also found in gardens and farmland with some trees, and in remnant bushland patches.
Seasonal movements: Sedentary, with some seasonal migratory movements in eastern Australia; south during spring and north in autumn.
Feeding: The Rufous Whistler mainly eats insects, and sometimes seeds, fruit or leaves. It usually forages at higher levels than other whistlers, and rarely is seen on the ground.
Breeding: The Rufous Whistler breeds in monogamous pairs, and both sexes incubate the eggs and care for the young. The female builds a fragile, cup-shaped nest from twigs, grass, vines and other materials, bound and attached to a tree fork with spider web. Two broods may be produced in a season.
Calls: A long loud series of ringing notes.
Minimum Size: 16cm
Maximum Size: 18cm
Average size: 17cm
Average weight: 25g
Breeding season: July to February
Clutch Size: Usually 2, sometimes 3
Incubation: 13 days
Nestling Period: 11 days

Often when I see people pitch X-men reboots, they do one of two things: A) Do the original Uncanny X-men roster of Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Angel and Iceman or B) Just plugs in every popular X-men right off the bat. I don't like either of these. The uncanny X-men roster is kinda bland, while having every popular X-man in one movie would obviously not work.
My ideal line up would comprise of Cyclops, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, Storm and Angel. Professor X and Beast would also be present but as mentors to the team, not actual X-men.

For Leeds Fisrt Friday Gemma and I helped out two first-timers as we love to do. What a brilliant night! Rose and Becky had such a good time - and Becky even came out with us the next night to a non-lgbt club! Amazing, and wonderful to see someone new really taking to being out and about.
Also, I did my second ever karaoke performance at The Bridge, which I absolutely loved! And it turns out there's a little diva buried inside me somewhere - at the end of the song, I got a couple of cheers from the back of the pub, and in response I blew a kiss, LOL! Diva!

Ce matin-là, cette femme de l'ethnie Surma, prénommée Toulaoli, est venue à notre bivouac pour nous montrer avec fierté le labret d'argile qu'elle a façonné la veille devant nous et qu'elle a fait cuire le soir dans son village.
Ce labret nous a été offert, (peut-être quand même en échange de quelques birs) ; il fait désormais partie de notre cabinet de curiosités.
Le port du labret (ou plateau labial) traditionnellement pratiqué chez les Surma et les Mursi, s'il disparait peu à peu et ne concerne plus guère que les femmes un peu âgées, est cependant encore porté par certaines femmes jeunes.
On trouve beaucoup d'erreurs et d'affirmations fantaisistes (comme cette explication souvent citée qui voudrait que l'enlaidissemnt des femmes portant le labret, les protègent des razzias des esclavagistes) dans les textes qui évoquent le port du labret chez les femmes Mursi et Surma, même dans les ouvrages les plus classiques sur le sujet. De tous les textes que j'ai consulté, celui qui me parait le plus sérieux à ce propos est celui-ci :

Je m'en suis inspiré pour écrire ce texte.
Après avoir enlevé les incisives inférieures, la lèvre inférieure des jeunes-femmes surma est percée puis étirée progressivement en utilisant des disques de plus en plus grands. Après quelques mois d'étirement, la lèvre est si élastique qu'on peut y introduire le labret sans difficulté
Les contextes cérémoniels sont propices au port du labret, par exemple les danses et autres moments de séduction, ou lorsqu’une épouse sert un repas à son mari et ses hôtes, ou encore lors de la plupart des rituels, seuls moments réunissant plus de personnes que le voisinage immédiat. Les moments où le labret s’impose sont assez bien définis et, dans tous les cas, le port du labret correspond à la présence d'hommes.
Le labret est porté de la maturité sexuelle à la naissance des premiers enfants, c'est-à-dire pendant quelques années seulement. Les femmes le délaisseront ensuite et la lèvre se rétractera
Les femmes surma fabriquent elles-mêmes leurs labret. Elles utilisent une boule de terre argileuse humidifiée qu'elles frappent longuement afin d’en extraire les poches d’air et d’augmenter sa densité. Petit à petit, cette boule est aplatie et un disque apparaît. Une fois que celui-ci atteint le diamètre voulu, les doigts mouillés de la femme qui le fabrique dessinent sur la tranche un sillon large d’une lèvre, le plus lisse et régulier possible. Il est ensuite jeté dans les braises d’un feu et, selon le procédé de cuisson et d’oxydation, deviendra noir, rouge, brun ou blanc.
Quant à la signification du labret, cette étude, après avoir rapelé l'importance primordiale des bovins dans la culture Surma, en donne une interprétaion originale que je vous livre : "Le labret participe à réduire la distance entre forme des visages et forme des faces. Aux femmes, il manque le mufle [ ... ]. Le labret change les proportions du visage féminin qui s’approchent alors de celles du bovin".

Dick Grayson- the first Robin, I really liked the idea of going with the classic suit, although i hope to give him a long yellow cape
Jason Todd- the darkest of the lot, Jason's suit is based off of Young Justice, with an added hood that tries to show a correlation between his Robin and Red Hood suits
Tim Drake- While personally I've always really liked his green and red suit, I really love the TLG fig, i really don't know why
Damian Wayne- although my least favorite Robin, gotta admit, his costume is probably the best. Used the official fig
Now I know there are other Robins, but in my Universe, Kerry Kelly and Stephanie Brown were never Robin. Stay tuned soon, I also have the evolution of Batgirl

Grey Fantail
Scientific Name: Rhipidura albiscapa
Description: The Grey Fantail is most easily recognised by its constantly fanned tail and agile aerial twists and turns. Both sexes are similar in appearance: grey above, with white eyebrow, throat and tail edges. This species is quite inquisitive and will closely approach an observer.
Similar species: Willie Wagtail, Rufous Fantail
Distribution: The Grey Fantail is found throughout Australia.
Habitat: The Grey Fantail is found in most treed habitats.
Seasonal movements: Appears to undergo a partial northern migration during winter.
Feeding: The Grey Fantail feeds on flying insects, which it catches by chasing them from the edge of foliage at all levels in the canopy.
Breeding: The Grey Fantail builds its nest in a thin tree-fork, unusually between 2 and 5 metres from the ground. It is made of fine grass bound together with large amounts of spider web. The bottom of the nest is drawn out into a long stem, resembling that of a wine-glass. Both parents share nest-building, incubation of the eggs and feeding of the young when they hatch.
The nest of the Grey Fantail has a long tapering stem that resembles a wine-glass.
Calls: Ascending, tinkling, whistles and squeaks.
Minimum Size: 14cm
Maximum Size: 16cm
Average size: 15cm
Average weight: 9g
Breeding season: July to January
Clutch Size: 2 to 3
Incubation: 14 days
Nestling Period: 21 days

Comment: The Rockwell B-1 Lancer is a supersonic variable-sweep wing, heavy bomber used by the United States Air Force. It is commonly called the "Bone". It is one of three strategic bombers serving in the U.S. Air Force fleet along with the B-2 Spirit and the B-52 Stratrofortress
A week ago, I took the pano (see Comments) of our Riverside Park being flooded by the river. Yesterday, I took another, which shows some recession occurring but not a whole lot. The strip of land amongst the trees to the right was not visible last week.
This was a 4 stitch pano, originally, but for aesthetic reasons I cropped it down to more like 2.5 frames. I used my own camera this time and did a much better job on the pano, but the poor result from last week was more my doing than the camera's fault. Photographically, I like this much better although the other one showed more of the scene (as this did before I cropped).
Note: A pano stitch like this is the type of image that is best viewed large. You can see the photo full screen by hovering over the photo and clicking the arrows at the top right. It's easy peasy.

Apologies for the quality of the audio on this - I've had to bodge this together. I made a slideshow using online software but I couldn't save it in a usable format, so instead I had to play it on the PC screen while filming it on my iphone.
It is somewhat self-indulgent, so apologies for that also, lol.
A collection of pictures from my first emergence, right through up to the end of July this year. Loads of different looks, outfits, places and people. Personally, I can't watch this without being reduced to joyful tears!
The music, 'This Is Me', from The Greatest Showman, is the perfect track and is somewhat of a trans anthem. Rightly so. As the lyrics go:

Superb Fairy-wren
Scientific Name: Malurus cyaneus
Description: Adult male Superb Fairy-wrens are among the most brightly coloured of the species, especially during the breeding season. They have rich blue and black plumage above and on the throat. The belly is grey-white and the bill is black. Females and young birds are mostly brown above with a dull red-orange area around the eye and a brown bill. Females have a pale greenish gloss, absent in young birds, on the otherwise brown tail. The legs are brown in both sexes. Males from further inland and in the south-west of the range have more blue on the back and underparts.
Similar species: Several other species of fairy-wren are found in Australia. The males of each species are quite distinct, but the females and young birds are often difficult to separate. Of the species that overlap in range with the Superb Fairy-wren, the female White-winged Fairy-wren Malurus leucopterus and Red-backed Fairy-wren M. melanocephalus lacks the chestnut colour around the eye, while the female Variegated Fairy-wren M. lamberti has a dull grey-blue wash. Both the Superb and White-winged Fairy-wrens are similar in size. The Variegated Fairy-wren is slightly larger in size and has a longer tail.
Distribution: Superb Fairy-wrens are found south of the Tropic of Capricorn through eastern Australia and Tasmania to the south-eastern corner of South Australia.
Habitat: Seen in most habitat types where suitable dense cover and low shrubs occur. They are common in urban parks and gardens, and can be seen in small social groups. These groups normally consist of one dominant male and several females and young birds.
Feeding: Superb Fairy-wrens feed on insects and other small arthropods. These are caught mostly on the ground, but may also be taken from low bushes. Feeding takes place in small social groups.
Breeding: The nest is a dome-shaped structure of grasses and other fine material. It is usually placed in a low bush and is constructed by the female. The female incubates the eggs alone, but both sexes feed the young. Other members of the group will also help with the feeding of the young.
Male Superb Fairy-wrens have been labelled as 'the least faithful birds in the world'. Females may be courted by up to 13 males in half an hour, and 76% of young are sired by males from outside the social group.
Calls: The Superb Fairy-wren gives a series of high pitched trills, which are given by both sexes. The male often extends these trills into song.
Minimum Size: 13cm
Maximum Size: 14cm
Average size: 14cm
Average weight: 10g
Clutch Size: Three to four.

hi random person. I'm at a loss for words what to write today. Quite frankly I'm not entirely in the mood for it. That's rare. I could just start talking and trying to be funny, sometimes successfully and blabber. Kind of like what I'm doing right now.
But I'll stop. Sorry to disappoint for those that actually do arrive here to read this shit. That still surprises me to some level that people come for that. However I spent for what seemed like the entire Bush Administration working on the post-edit of the posted photo
So... I'll let you just look at it, find the hidden emblem, and then answer the following question for me.
Which place appeals to you the most on a spiritual level, given these 4 choices:
A. wide open sprawling desert (as seen)
B. dense thick Forest with gigantic trees
C. a gorgeous beach with pretty people and clear water
D. my cock currently located in my pants

REGATA DOS BARCOS RABELOS
O Barco Rabelo foi utilizado durante séculos, no Rio Douro, para o transporte de Vinhos da Região Duriense e também de pessoas, até Vila Nova de Gaia/Porto – PORTUGAL. Este tráfego terminou nos anos 60 do século XX.
O Douro era um Rio “de mau navegar” pelo que foram muitos os naufrágios com perdas de vidas humanas. Aos tripulantes deste barco se chamava “marinheiros” para significar os perigos de seu trabalho.
Os Barcos Rabelos que restam estão ancorados no Cais de Vila Nova de Gaia para fazer publicidade a várias marcas de Vinho do Porto a qual está bem evidente nas suas velas.
Por iniciativa da Confraria do Vinho do Porto, desde 1983 nas festas de S. João a 24 de Junho, realiza-se desde a Foz do Douro até à Ponte de D. Luís (Gaia/Porto) uma Regata de Barcos Rabelos. No início eram apenas 4 Barcos actualmente são 20/22 a disputarem a prova.
Estas imagens foram realizadas no acompanhamento da Regata de 24 de Junho de 2015.

For centuries the Rabelo boat was used in the Douro River to transport wines, and people, from the Douro region to Vila Nova de Gaia / Porto - PORTUGAL. Its use was stopped in the XX century, around the 60s.
The Douro was a river of "hard sailing" thus there were countless shipwrecks and lives lost.The crew members were called "sailors" to clearly illustrate the dangers of the job.
The remaining Rabelos are moored at the pier in Vila Nova de Gaia and are now used to advertise various Port brands, which are clearly visible in their sails.
By initiative of the Confraria do Vinho do Porto (Port Wine Brotherhood), since 1983, in the popular celebrations of São João (St. John) on June 24th, is held a regatta with Rabelos starting at Foz do Douro until the bridge D. Luís (Gaia / Porto). In the first edition there were only 4 boats, currently 20 to 22 boats participate in the race. These pictures were taken in the regatta of 24 June 2015

Los Barcos Rabelos que quedan están anciados en Vila Nova de Gaia como publicidad de las diversas marcas de Vino de Oporto, bien evidente en sus velas.
Por inicitiva de la Confraria del Vino de Oporto desde 1982 se realiza una Regata de Barcos Rabelos desde la Foz del Duero hasta el puente de D.Luís (Gaia/Porto) en las fiestas de San Juan, el 24 de Junio. Inicialmente apenas 4 Barcos participaban pero actualmente son 20/22.

It is the possibilities that excites me about photography.
Regardless of the subject matter, the possibility to discover something creative or unique inspires me to no end.
I believe that regardless of the subject matter, landscape, people or other studies
the creative potentials are the same.
It is very exciting to live the moment discovering the possibilities.

The ease of technology that has made showing my work so much more easily accessible these days with the use
of my iphone and apple macbook pro! My photography experience and the technology has greatly been intwine into the my camera life. I am really looking forward to getting an ipad to supplement presenting my work to clients soon!
