WAIKIKI, Hawaii - 9th Mission Support Command Warriors past and present joined wounded warriors, veterans and families to compete and partake in the Malama Na Koa Wounded Warrior Regatta Aug. 18, 2018. Launched in 2009, Malama Na Koa organized the regatta to assist recovering troops through the ‘healing power’ of the Hawaiian waters. The first event took place at the Pearl Harbor Marina with 67 teams from the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard and other organizations. The Hawaii Chapter of the Association of the United States Army has hosted the event since 2014. The Na Koa Wounded Warrior Canoe Regatta has since expanded to include Gold Star families in the Wounded Warrior & Family Division, a Youth Honor Heat, two VIP Exhibition Heats, and a Gold Star Medallion Presentation. The event has grown to include nearly 500 paddlers, 175 volunteers, and roughly 300-400 spectators.

SASEBO, Japan (Nov. 12, 2010) - Sailors secure Landing Craft Utility 1651 to the stern gate of the amphibious dock landing ship USS Tortuga (LSD 46). LCU 1651 is packed with 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (31st MEU) vehicles. In less than a day 31st MEU personnel and equipment embarked aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) swapped to Tortuga. Tortuga is part of the permanently forward-deployed Essex Amphibious Ready Group and is underway in the western Pacific Ocean. Lt. Gen. Lynch, Mrs. Sarah Lynch, Command Sgt. Maj. Neil Ciotola and Mrs. Beth Ciotola attended the Fort Sam Houston Fiesta and Fireworks Military Ceremony and Commander's Reception Sunday, April 10.

 

The event was hosted by all unites assigned to Joint Base San Antonio at Ft. Sam Houston, including the U.S. Army Installation Command, Medical Command, Medical Department Center and School, Brooke Army Medical Center, U.S. Army North, U.S. Army South and the U.S. Army 5th Recruiting Brigade.

 

The Fife and Drum Corps, in historic dress, performed marching music from armies past. Lynch, alongside Lt. Gen. Guy Swan, commanding general of U.S. Army North, Maj. Gen. Simeon Trombitas, commanding general of U.S. Army South, El Rey Feo, Bill Drain and King Antonio, William Mitchell, passed and reviewed the troops.

 

After the ceremony, Lynch, fellow JBSA commanders and Fiesta royalty enjoyed a reception at the Quadrangle, the original establishment at Ft. Sam which is now home to free-roaming deer, geese and peacocks. The 82nd Airborne Chorus gave an a capella performance and the evening ended with a fireworks show.
