Col. Jack Haefner assumed command of U.S. Army Garrison Red Cloud and Area I June 30, replacing Col. John M. Scott. Scott moves to a new assignment on the Pentagon Joint Staff as Chief of Staff of Joint Force Development (J7).
Army Materiel Command held a “Touchdown Ceremony” June 15, 2011 at their new Headquarters on Martin Road, Redstone Arsenal, AL. The 400,000 square foot facility will house some 1,750 AMC and US Army Security Assistance Command employees.
PACIFIC OCEAN (Aug. 27, 2012) - Sailors assigned to USS George Washington's V-4 division transport a simulated casualty during a General Quarters drill on the flight deck. General Quarters drills are held regularly to prepare Sailors for emergency situations that may occur while deployed. George Washington departed Fleet Activities Yokosuka Aug. 20 to continue its 2012 patrol. George Washington and its embarked air wing, Carrier Air Wing 5, provide a combat-ready force that protects and defends the collective maritime interest of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Asia-Pacific region. The commanding general of Army Materiel Command, GEN Ann E. Dunwoody and the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology, Ms. Heidi Shyu came to Afghanistan to meet with the Soldiers and Civilians, logisticians and warfighters. They visited members of the 401st Army Field Support Brigade both in Kandahar and in Bagram and received tours of several of the facilities at each.

On 18 July 2017, LISA Pathfinder was shut down after being placed in a safe disposal orbit. The final command was sent from ESOC, ESA's European Space Operations Centre, at 19:57 CEST that evening. That day, scientists, mission controllers and the mission's management team gathered at ESOC, Darmstadt, Germany, for a presentation on the successes of the mission prior to the shut-down.
