Near Collieston, Aberdeenshire, NE Scotland. This was the climax of a period of intense solar activity, which gave magnificent displays from my house for several nights in a row. This photo is now almost 9 years old and taken on a Canon 10D, so a little grainy.

Rangoli also known as Kolam is a traditional decorative folk art of India. They are meant as sacred welcoming for the Hindu deities and it is thought to bring good luck. It is traditionally done by women and the designs can be simple geometric shapes, deity impressions, flower and petal shapes. The base material is usually dry or wet granulated rice or dry flour and other natural colors can be added. "Colours are what
keep me alive
colours are what
to hold in my head
colours are where my
my old meets new
colours are where my
my brain finds blue
bursts are where
i find a face
bursts are made
to colour me rich
bursts are blocks
stickle bricks
bursts of colour
until i'm sick
colours and colours and colours of colours"
