Coloured lights at night , taken deliberately out of focus. A mixture of cafe , street , and traffic lights, giving an abstract mix of colours . The 'bokeh' isn't truly bokeh , merely reflection, as the lens was open at its widest , not stopped down (the photo being hand held). Hence the nearly circular shape to the spots of light.
Lens was an old Yashica Yashinon 1.9, still in beautiful condition after nearly 50 years .
Liverpool's famous St. John's Beacon, which presently houses commercial radio station Radio City, is in the background framed by the twin totem pole-type gateway signs for the City's World Museum in William Brown Street. Between are the gardens to the rear of the world famous St. George's Hall. Liverpool, UK
I've been trying to get this shot for almost five months!. The weather in London's been pretty dull and cloudy for months, so whenever I did have a chance to nip up to Marsham Street outside the Home Office building, there was either no sunlight, or it was too late/early for the coloured light to be hitting the road.
Anyway... as you can see, I finally nailed the sucker! Hah!
Now that's how a shoot should be but rarely is.
Tool up, a couple of framing shots, open up, dash about like a whirling dervish for 114 secs @ f14, close, playback, WTF ????? Oh yes, I'll have some of that with fries on ! Tool down and home by 11:30.
No security, wild men of the woods, drunks, or police.
Pure LP adrenaline hit for me.
SOOC then cropped.
I used a sparkler and taped it to the roundabout, wrapped it in wire wool, flashed me with an incandescent torch...problem I had was that in the picture you could see it going on....so I left it...It drove me nuts trying to think how I could get the picture without all the mess and using PS...Then I remembered reading on someone elses post about covering the lens back up with the lens cap.....
Flashed me with the torch...put the lens cap back on, lit the sparkler and sent the roundabout spinning, moved out of shot and took the lens cap back off....

Just love this capture as it looks like an oil painting to me.
Another successful nocturnal caper with Quornflake. We went to investigate a tunnel under the M3 in Surrey that is circa 100m in length. Armed with every possible tool along with a couple of rolls of heavy duty tape deal with the sodium lights we trudged for 3/4 mile in soaking wet long grass.
Upon arrival we found this immense tunnel to be lit like a runway with the lights in the center of the ceiling with no possible place to lean a ladder. Trade descriptions will need to be informed as telescopic ladder that I was sold as being lightweight is far from that when being carried 3/4 of a mile !
I had intended to abort to a back-up location if lit and unaddressable but we ended up spending the night huddled in the darkest end of the tunnel burning wool like it was going out of fashion. What a fun and varied evening we had, back to basics, Brian Blessed impressions, Vole stroking and an earwig determined to inhabit the mask at the same time as me !
Top night with top company.

Final act at the Circo Aquatico, Frankfurt am Main (Germany).
Unfortunately, I was not able to find the artists' names on the circus' website, and as there was no printed program sold, I have to let them stand unnamed. If somebody recognizes this pair who did a splendid performance at the aerial silks, please let me know.
Known locally as 'The Floozie in the Jacoozie' the fountain is in Victoria Square Birmingham. Unfortunately there's been no water in it for a while now so the impact isn't what it could be.
Crazy Tuesday theme: “Aluminium Foil” 😊
Thanks to everyone who took the time to view, comment, and fave my photo. It’s really appreciated. 😊
Invited Quornflake Dan over for a house warming party tonight at my new place. All he did all night was set fire to things and run about with lights. Rather distracting when one wants to watch a serious documentary on this momentous occasion.
I suppose that important thing is that we both enjoyed each others company and he helped me feel at home on my first night.
Foot note.
Hob or Montoff - an off-cut from either of your plush carpets would transform this room a treat.
Ubiquitous Kevin - if things don't work out for you, I may have a room spare if you promise not to keep the place tidy.
Two gelled remote syncronised flashes shot @ f4. for 5 secs @ 100 ISO and damn good cropping !

Leading up to the holidays I love all the twinkling lights cheering up the night. But it's on the long string of grey days that follow, that I find myself looking for the dangling pops of colour, catching whatever bits of afternoon light are available. Especially on a day when the snow only seems to stop for ten minutes at a time. Well hello there winter!

even found a Wagtail there...so had to add!!!
A sunlit peak in the Cascade range, photographed through coloured lights on a railing in Langely, WA. Why? Because it was there.
Better seen large!
I love experimenting with the sunlight coming through my feng shui crystals in front of the window pane .
I discovered that crystal light on crystals open new possibilities.
Nieuwe Insituut, Rotterdam, Netherlands. The arcades at the Institute are lit up in different colours during the evening which makes them of interest as during the day they are concrete and grey. I was fortunate there were few people around which allowed me several attempts to set my self timer and get into position.
Yeah, that's a thing now. I just made it up. Bank on it. Within 5 years, Christmas Week will be trending. This is on the river, just before the lift bridge, in Port Stanley. In the spring, summer, fall, that water is filled with sailboats, and, power boats of all shapes and sizes. Wint, not so much. The lights were actually a tad bit thin, so, I thought I'd zoom them up a little. lol
