The University of Liverpool's Active Learning Laboratory. This building started life as a hideous concrete box. It has recently received this fabulous make-over. The effect of the ever-changing colours is quite mesmeric...
This one subject I'm sure I'll be revisiting as the year progresses...
As 1/3, but with more reds to give a more pleasing palette of colours. Colours are chosen randomly.
All scenes use radiosity lighting, which gives the photorealistic glows, and allows efficient rendering of hundreds of light sources.
I thought I would try a different effect with the CN Tower.
I zoomed in with a shutter speed of 2 seconds and the lights from the buildings and tower provided a trail-light effect.
They look like power lights coming towards me from a distance!

I have a "rainbow maker" on the window. A photoelectric cell, activated by sunlight, drives a motor which turns a cut glass pendant. Pretty spectral patches rotate around the room.

Anniesland tower in its illuminated nighttime glory - the lights on the right of the tower cycle through various colours as well as there being patterned spotlights that move around the end of the tower.

Long ago I promised some shots of this place at night... finally got round to them.
Shame it's not in focus - just snapped them quickly before they passed by. I like the image, though, even if it's not quite sharp.

Looking up the high street
The shining festive lights of Shefford High Street in Bedfordshire, England are always a fantastic spectacle in December and early January every year, and this year was no different.
Congratulations to the White Hart Public House, the Church and all the other bodies and individuals who organise such an impressive display every year.
