The tall illuminated column behind the refreshments kiosk, in Glasgow's George Square, supports a statue of Sir Walter Scott (the reknowned Scottish author). View seen at Glasgow's Winterfest.
Tower Bridge, London, Wednesday 27 June 2012.
Special illuminations, provided by EDF Energy - red white and blue - as crowds line the banks of the Thames to see the Olympic rings being lowered into place.
Messing about in the dark with a slowly changing LED light. Nothing special about the shot, just a dark place, tripod and 30 sec exposure.
I like the waxy globules effect this had.
This is actually an out-of-focus close-up of lighted bulbs on an outdoor Christmas tree, taken with my Canon TX.
Dahlia plant growing in my garden taken at night. I shone some coloured lights for a second each during the exposure.
I can't wait to Sunday when I can take a photo earlier and not run the risk of having nothing worthwhile by bed time!
Looking up the high street
The shining festive lights of Shefford High Street in Bedfordshire, England are always a fantastic spectacle in December and early January every year, and this year was no different.
Congratulations to the White Hart Public House, the Church and all the other bodies and individuals who organise such an impressive display every year.

Bit of a lie-in this morning; luxury! Got breakfast for Mum and me, and got myself up and dressed before her carers came at 10:30. We had a pretty easy morning, then got off to her next hospital appointment after lunch. This one was for a suspected basal cell carcinoma on her nose. She was given the choice of having a biopsy or going straight for the op - she chose the latter but was then thwarted by the fact that they couldn't transfer her to the 'couch' for the surgery. So she had to go with the biopsy option - much less brutal, but with the chance that she'll still need to go back for the op. But with any luck, it'll come back clear and she won't. Keeping everything crossed for that!
Got home earlier than expected, and had a nice unhurried evening, having cancelled the carers (in anticipation of getting home late). Nice having our own schedule for a change - I helped Mum to bed about 8:30/9pm (instead of the usual 6:30-ish).
Another day without taking any photos, so another evening snap in my Mum's kitchen. I liked the red light being cast on the blinds by this crackle-glass vase.
This photograph shot under the pedestrian walkway to the River Bus pier at North Greenwich was taken on 28th February 2013 by Julian Mason.

They let us wait for more than an hour. But was totally worth it.
The milan-based band "Calibro 35" played along with a 70ies pulp police movie (which was so bad that you had to love it). Was a great night.
