(19th June 2012) - Today was genuinely soul destroying. The non-stop barrage of calls, emails and expanding todo lists ending up robbing me of any sense of joy at work, as I spent the day getting wearier.
I spent the afternoon feeling sorry for myself, convinced that after all the work I'd done, I deserve better than to be made to handle all complaints, as well as do what seems to be the majority of the recovery tasks. I really wanted a break and a rest and to have someone else take over. But deep down I knew this wasn't going to happen and so I just carried on as best I could.
A result of the curent workload is that my appetite has all but disappeared. I barely managed a slice of toast for breakfast (I left the crusts) and for lunch I had a latte from Starbucks. By the end of the working day, I was feeling tired and weak.
But in the days prior to today, I had arranged to meet Jemma! Jemma had secured a voucher for Pizza Express and so I met her there after work. I was feeling tired, and was worried that I would end up just wasting Jemma's time, much like when I went zorbing with Carrie - I thought I'd be tired, talk nonsense and have poor concentration. Most of that happened still, but Jemma didn't mind at all (and in fact embraced the talking nonsense part!), and it was so great to see her. It's felt like an age since I last saw her for a meal at East Z East, and even longer since we met when it was just me and her. It was so lovely. After getting the grown up stuff out of the way (i.e. talking about work), we seemed to revert back to our 18 year old selves, and talk and laugh like we used when we both worked at GAME. In particular, we both burst into fits of laughter at the idea of bumping into someone after years, only to say to them that "you aren't as simple as I remember". In fact, I had such a good time that my appetite returned and I finished my pizza, which was a nice surprise.
After the hellish day I had, seeing Jemma was the perfect end to it.
The picture today was taken in Jemma's car and I felt it was a good way of expressing of how I felt - feeling like I was stuck in my current predicament and going nowhere.

Its rare for me to post a picture of Emma as she doesn't like it. I personally love this one, its taken in 'Bone Lick Park' in Greenwich Village, NYC.
I put my coloursplash on the Ricoh and like the result, I hope my film shots come out as good.
I'm still playing with this photo. Something about it I like and it's perfect for Colour Splash on my iPhone.

I saw Brian outside a café in Ipswich. He was just leaving and I was in a bit of a hurry so didn't have time to spend moving around looking for a better background. Even so I am quite pleased with this portrait and enlisted the help of my daughter laurenmariefj (www.flickr.com/photos/98358484@N06/) to help me with the colour splash.
To go with London Bus. I got to visit New York & London within a couple of days and figured it might be cool to get matching low-angle shots of the famous vehicles in each city.
