EQUATORIAL GIRL pencil drawing by shahrzad ranji

Colour pencil.

I bought lots of Fruit at work (it is a bit complicated to explain why, but the bottom line is that I have *lots* of fruit, seriously)

So I my sketch of the day had to be a still life.

But in 10 min, I just got to the point you see...

Fortunatelly, I bought a scanner and carried on for a bit (see Still Life with Fruit - Finished) - this is why there is no date on this one, but promised it is fron the 16th!

first of a handful of greeting cards designed for upcoming events in the next few weeks :-)

I grew up with these legendary icons on TV, and am a fan of both, especially Michael Jackson...

I assumed they were immortal...

How sad to hear of both their departures on the same day?!

I guess Heaven needs them more today... May they rest in peace...

This is a colour pencil piece of a White Tailed Hawk. It is a smaller hawk species from the Eastern United States. I loved the barred pattern on the underside of the wings and had a lot of fun producing this piece. It is from a series of Birds of Prey that I had done.

Wildlife tends to be one of my favorite subjects and I always hope to inspire an appreciation of nature and conservation to my viewers. The really great thing about animals is that they have a universal appeal. It does not matter what your age, race, gender, colour, geographic origin, religion, etc is, everyone can look and smile and understand the beauty of these amazing creatures.

An assignment for uni, I did this illustration to use for a promotional postcard (will upload the pics of the postcards soon! Need some sunlight, been having crappy rainy weather all day). And I can use this illustration for my Christmas cards too :)

Yay! Last page of my "Number 3" Moleskine!

New year, new Moleskine!

You can see this senior citizen every morning and every afternoon smoking his cigar, having his "licor café" and cutting out sentences, whole paragraphs and images from some copies he always has with him - political protest at all ages!

All I had was a photo of her face. I had to copy it as an exercise and I liked the result.

Just a bunch of stuff I drew over several years that have been taken with an iPhone and edited using an app available in the iTunes Store

I teach mandala drawing lessons and today the first lesson was: straight lines, curved lines and combined lines (straight and curved). My student drew with colourpencils; I made a zendala. Left curved lines (female), right straight lines (male) and in the middle combined lines.

Freehand from photo. Prismacolor pencils on brown Daler Rowney paper. 10 inches by 6 inches. I chose this photo because of the spectacular form of the arch which frames the bright blue sky so beautifully. I think some of the snow has come out really nice.

Just colouring 3 panels, i used up one box of 12 colour pencils straight down to the stubs!
