I find seaweed very fascinating...and especially the red algae....this one is one i found last year in may and I am not sure what kind of red algae it is......I guess it is some kind of Ceramium or red hornweed....

I did take some close-up photos of it....placing it in water in my plastic-bowl, which is white and make it easy to see the structure of the seaweed.....

and i come to know it further by drawing it.....

So here are some of the steps in my work making it a picture....

A colour version of the drawing of the ruins of the church of St Mary's Abbey.

St Mary's Abbey was founded in 1088 by King William II. It was rebuilt between 1270 and 1294, work on the central crossing tower beginning in 1278. Most of what can be seen in Museum Gardens date from this period. The most imposing remains are the western piers of the central crossing and the north wall of the nave aisle, with the lower parts of the south choir aisle in the foreground. The site was granted to the Yorkshire Philosophical Society in the early 19th century to become York Botanical Gardens. Later in the 19th century the gardens became a public park, the only large public open space in the city centre.

Thought of the Day:

To my OWIP friends: Sorry about my absence but it seems that the older one gets the less time one has .......

I have added this to group, My Own Favourite Flickr work. This is a small sketch completed a while ago now and long ago given away, I still hold this one as an aspirational sketch of my work wants to go, free and full of energy. Usually my more popular Flickr posts are the more careful and detailed compositions.

I arrived late for the Urban Sketchers Sydney opening meet up for a ANZAC long weekend of sketching. It was getting dark and there was a bit of rain. When I arrived everyone was already finishing up their sketches and getting ready to move on to the Orient Hotel for drinks. So here is my effort, a scribble sketch, so I could catch up with everyone else and enjoy a chat .

Story: I was shooting a short movie about the sound of pencils, inspired by John Cage's "4minutes 33 second". You can see the movie on YouTube because is to long for Flickr.

Coloured pencils on my mini sketchbook.

Nowadays it is not always easy to entertain children at home. Fortunately, Grace has two children who love activity books and colored pencils. ✍️📔📚They even made a very cute drawing that I will show you later. ^_^ I hope you continue well and stay at home. 🏠

Back to work today...great holiday was had by the fat cats with plenty of snow and endless opportunities to entertain the crowds with my own brand of physical comedy. Mostly just falling on my arse in unusual ways but this year i managed to mix it up a bit by get trapped on the the lift by my rucksack.
