Back in the archives again due to the weather conditions at weekend not suiting sunset photography!
This image was taken of the East Winner Sandbank, Hayling Island almost a year ago showing the afterglow colours reflecting in the pools of water left by the previous tide. When the conditions are right this location can provide some interesting compositions!
To visit this location you need to get your timing right to ensure you do not get cut off by the next tide coming in behind you!!!
2 second exposure using a Lee 0.9 ND grad filter.

There was a lovely mist at York Racecourse this morning and a slight frost but I failed to do it justice in my early shots. Moving people don't work in long exposures. Last year all we saw was the "Night Tether" and I was disappointed not to get better colours. I hope the York Balloon Festival will become an annual event. I wanted to show the balloons at various stages from the flat, laid out canopy to one in the air. The designs and colours were fabulous in the warm, early light!

The Ektar colour during long exposure is pretty amazing. It's got a beautiful blue which is very saturated. I desaturated the blue in PP and got this colour. I didn't alter the colour of this shot.
These two guys stood still for about 10 min and I got 2 shots of them like this :-)
T: Mamiya C330s, 80 2.8 lens, F16, 2-3min exposure, Kodak Ektar 100 film (it was very low light and no filter was required)
(Test) the colour scheme of this buildung (Saturn Hamburg) changes every few seconds. As I did not succeed in making an animation of these six shots, I combined them in one picture...
The Lilac Breasted Roller. The bird might look like he wears a little black mask, but he does not mask his presence. A beautiful symbol of the African Savanna, he is a killer, but also a very pretty one.
Steve and I took a trip out to the Assynt area and stopped a couple of times on the road to the Achiltibuie to take in the every changing light.
We spent a while waiting by Loch Lurgainn for the sun to break through the thinning cloud and I used the patchwork light on Cùl Beag as the focal point of my first useable images of the day.
Down here in the flat lands of Delta we live in a very grey world for about 6 months of the year. It isn't a deep grey with some texture and depth to it but a flat monotone seeps into your brain kind of grey. Not only is the sky grey but also the sea, the river, the sand, the roads, the buildings, and 90% of our vehicles. In fact the only thing that breaks up the grey is the mud in the fields. As we have so much grey to contend with I always think our houses should have more colour to help brighten these months rather than the grey and beige that most people seem to chose. (And yes we are one of those living in a grey house although not for lack of trying on my part). It is such a pleasure when every so often you see someone who has broken away from the norm and dared to put colour on their paint brush. One day I hope to be one of those people. Off with the grey I say and on with the red!
