I was lucky enough to have a friend living and working in the Colombo when I visited Sri Lanka some years ago, and as she too is a photography-enthusiast, she guided us to the best districts to walk around. We spent the weekend chatting as we alternated photo-walks with coffee-stops around the city.
The sky overhead in the Galle Face Green was full of colourful kites, and I was a little envious, as I’ve never succeeded in flying one. This urban park stretches 500 m (1,600 ft) along the coast, and is a popular destination for the city’s residents.

Colombo International Financial City is a special financial zone that is expected to become an International Financial Centrer.It is situated in Colombo, Sri Lanka where the former Port City was planned and is to be built on reclaimed land adjacent to the Galle Face Green.
The Port City was claimed to be a concept of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who was apparently inspired while inspecting the landfill being constructed for the Colombo South port.

04-08 June - Ship DETAINED by SL Navy
At 0930 hours on 04 June 2009, on the direction of the SL Navy, the MV Captain Ali anchors off the coast of Colombo where it is boarded by 13 SLN seamen.
The SLN searches the entire ship and finds only humanitarian relief items. 11 SLN personnel are left on board to provide "security".
