04-08 June - Ship DETAINED by SL Navy
At 0930 hours on 04 June 2009, on the direction of the SL Navy, the MV Captain Ali anchors off the coast of Colombo where it is boarded by 13 SLN seamen.
The SLN searches the entire ship and finds only humanitarian relief items. 11 SLN personnel are left on board to provide "security".

is the largest city and commercial capital of Sri Lanka. It is located on the west coast of the island and adjacent to Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte, the capital city of Sri Lanka. Colombo is a busy and vibrant city with a mixture of modern life and colonial buildings and ruins and a city population of 647,100. The Colombo Metropolitan Region, defined by the districts of Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara, has an estimated population of 5,648,000, and covers an area of 3,694.20 km².

Colombo (em cingalês: , pron. AFI: [ˈkoləmbə]; em tâmil: கொழும்பு) é a capital e maior cidade do Sri Lanka (antigo Ceilão). É também um importante porto do Oceano Índico e tem cerca de 643 mil habitantes (cerca de 2,5 milhões na área metropolitana). Foi uma possessão portuguesa entre 1518 e 1524 e entre 1554 e 1656. É capital conjunta com a cidade de Kotte, ou seja, o Sri Lanka tem o Poder Executivo e Judiciário em Colombo, mas o Poder Legislativo (Parlamento do Sri Lanka) do país está em Kotte, a segunda maior cidade do país.
