The Grist Mill in Coldwater was first constructed in 1833-34 for the Ojibwa natives who had been settled on 10,000 acres between the Coldwater River and the Narrows at Orillia.
This piece of history not taught in school...
"At the Coldwater Reserve, the Coldwater Experiment as it became known, there were one team of oxen for all the farms and were expected to plough all the land. The people were promised many things to assist in farming and to help with this major transition in their lifestyle. They proved to be not the best of farmers. The people were more interested in hunting, canoeing, visiting and working the sugar bush. They were tied to the land yet had the gift of movement with the water. They cleared the land and then it was discovered that it was valuable land. The Government sweet talked the people out of it. Our ancestors were generous, they shared the land. The Government said they only needed a bit of land and that there were only a few of them. We had no idea of how many relatives they had. They promised to help us and thus the treaties were created and signed. The people that had worked closely together then split up in three groups. In 1836 the settlement was released to white settlers."

I finally saw an INER GP30 live in person, though not exactly the way I wanted it to look. Running long hood forward, the 2230 heads east out of Coldwater, MI with a short train. Maybe, next time it'll be facing the right way.
The westbound Indiana Northeastern train comes past the old freight house at Coldwater, MI and passenger cars for the Little River Railroad.
Coldwater Creek is part of the greater Blackwater River area in northwest Florida. These creeks, with their sandy bottoms, relatively clear flows, and frequent beaches, make for excellent paddling, tubing, and general recreation, and are heavily utilized for such.

Indiana Northeastern GP30 2230 has a short train in tow as it heads east out of Coldwater on a dark late October day in 2015.
Little River Railroad 0-4-0T #1 brings up the rear of the LRR's Santa Train at the depot in Coldwater. On the head end is Pacific #110, and both of the little engines will soon whistle off and puff their way out of town with the sold out train. This is on the "Old Road", part of the original LS&MS mainline between Elkhart, IN, and Toledo, OH. Even into the 50s, the NYC would occasionally detour the likes of the 20th Century Limited up here if the new main further south was congested!

This service station on old highway 30 in Idaho was bypassed when interstate 86 was built about a half century ago. It is near the Coldwater freeway exit, but I can find no record of a town named Coldwater. Perhaps it was originally located in a strategic place mid-way between towns.
This entire roll of Acros was kind of mauled by Rodinal. By that I mean, user error. I'm not sure what I did, but I *really* did it. I've developed Acros in Rodinal before and it looked fine. So either I inadvertantly got it right before or accidentally got it wrong here.
Still, if you want your Acros grainy as hell, do what I did. Whatever that was.

Coldwater, Kansas
Lanphere-Pratt Mansion

Built circa 1870
This Italianate home was built for Alvin T. Lanphere, who traded it in 1875 for the home of J. Franklin Pratt. Lanphere was a lieutenant in the Civil War. The Pratt family owned this magnificent home until it was sold to Alfred Morency in 1926.
Between 2000 and 2007 the home was operated as a Bed and Breakfast called the Victorian Mansion Inn. The inn had a full-service restaurant. There were three dining rooms with fourteen foot tall functioning pocket doors as well. Triple brick construction resulted in 14 inch thick walls with identical floor plans for each level.
The house currently appears to be vacant.
INER 1073 and 2185 lead their short train north out of Hillsdale as they heads for Jonesville where the line turns west for Coldwater.
The westbound Indiana Northeastern train of 4-21-17 comes past the Coldwater depot, which is home to a steam train excursion operation. The train will soon reach the end of the line in Coldwater, where they have several customers.
This is the beautiful lake that we visited on the way to the Johnson Ridge Observation site near Mt. St Helens In Washington..........

Spent a couple of days up in Michigan and thought that finding a train in fall colors would be nice. No choo-choo's, but the nicely restored depot in Coldwater filled in next to this show off oak. At least, I think that's an oak....

According to Wiki: Coldwater Lake is a barrier lake on the border of Cowlitz County and Skamania County, Washington in the United States. The lake was created during the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens, which blocked its natural outlet, Coldwater Creek, with volcanic debris. It is one of several lakes in the area that were created or otherwise enlarged by the eruption.
Having brought its train in from Edon, OH, the Indiana Northeastern is now delivering a boxcar load of panel board to a local customer at Coldwater, MI. The passenger car on the left is for a local excursion operation, the Little River Railroad.
This lake was created after the 1980 eruption of Mt. St. Helens. Signs on the interpretive trail describe the engineering work and how the bacteria cleared the water. It is well stocked with fish, too.
Skeels Home

This mansion was built for attorney Frank L. Skeels
at a cost of $12,000. The architect was Ebenezer B. Saxton.
This elaborate Queen Anne-style home features a cutstone
foundation, 12-foot ceilings, seven fireplaces and cherry
woodwork. It took 13 months to complete. Skeels used his
inheritance from his uncle, Henry C. Lewis, to afford such
opulence. Frank Skeels died in 1891, at the age of 45, and
his widow sold the home to William A. Coombs, owner of
three flour mills. The carriage house was sold and modified
into an apartment house
Kinda gray day at this lake on the way to St Helens. Nothing too interesting on the main path, but on the shore on the side, there was some more interesting foreground.
