Coldwater Lake is a barrier lake on the border of Cowlitz County and Skamania County, Washington in the United States. The lake was created during the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens, which blocked its natural outlet, Coldwater Creek, with volcanic debris. It is one of several lakes in the area that were created or otherwise enlarged by the eruption.

This shot was taken nearly a year ago on one of the two streams that form Coldwater Creek. Pictured in this photo are the ruins of an old dam that was one of a few put in place for a fish hatchery. Today, the fish hatchery is now on the other stream that forms the main flow of Coldwater Creek.

I shot this on a tripod using mirror lockup, a polarizing filter, and a 2 Sec. selftimer. I was standing in the water while taking these shots and the creek has a very accurate name of "Coldwater Creek", just upstream from this spot is one more little old wooden dam and all the water just seeps out of the ground.
I opened the RAW file in ACR and did my general tone curve adjustments and slider vibrance, clarity, and blacks increases. I adjusted the colours individually to get them the way I wanted, with a lot of green contrasting on a mix of light red and orange.
I opened the RAW file in CS4 saved as a 16 bit TIFF and preceded to edit it. I used the clone stamp and healing tools to meticulously clean the scene of any slightly annoying object. I added the light beams in the background by using the clouds filter, using motion blur on them and changing the blend mode to luminousity and lowering the opacity to about 50%. I also added a little bit of mist to go above the stream. Near the end I saved the 16 bit TIFF file, converted to sRGB colourspace, and saved as a JPEG to upload to the internet.

Stopped in for a Coke. The only bottle of Coke looked like Classic Coke. I couldn't read the writing due to the dust on the bottle.

Cold spring-fed stream.
A Windows 10 update has mucked up my installations of Vegas 16 and 17. Trying something new, Vegas 18. Does not seem to render as well.
This is the ColdWater covered bridge in Oxford Alabama!! It was moved to Oxford Lake Park from Cold Water Alabamal I can't believe I have not rode over here before but it is so close to where I work in Anniston Alabama.
One of the things I was so happy to see, and something you will see a few times in this series is the use of the bridges. I think they add a huge spark of realism to the community.
Today I start presenting some of my favorite spots in Belliseria. These are high end shots in world, each with a hand chosen wind light, and finally processed through Photoshop. I hope you like them.
This fashionable old home sits along Michigan Avenue on the east side of Coldwater, along I-69 close to the Ohio border. I took my photo during a visit to town on September 1, 2013.

Last week I headed out to hike and photograph near Mt St Helens, but I cancelled the hike due to the strong winds. I posted a photo on Flickr that showed whitecaps on Coldwater Lake. Today I tried it again. The lake was like a mirror. This photo is from the same point as last weeks, only with a wider angle. The hike up the lake was great, made more pleasant by a temperature inversion. It was 31 degrees when I left home, and as I gained elevation, it got warmer. It was 51 at the trailhead.
