Ik vind ze geweldig, deze kleine schattige 500'tjes. De kleine Italiaan moet heel wat kou doorstaan deze dagen.

Still fantastic little cars. So cute. But also this little Italian have to endure the cold temperatures these days.

The Chinstrap Penguin (Pygoscelis antarctica) is a species of penguin which is found in the South Sandwich Islands, Antarctica, Deception Island, the South Orkneys, South Shetland, South Georgia, Bouvet Island and Balleny. Their name derives from the narrow black band under their heads which makes it appear as if they are wearing black helmets, making them one of the most easily identified types of penguin. Other names for them are "Ringed Penguins", "Bearded Penguins", and "Stonecracker Penguins" due to their harsh call.

Siadi of Myga, Tymfi mountain, Epirus, Greece – January 2025.

A memorable night, full of experiences and unique photographic moments, gave way to a brief sleep – just 3 hours! The reason? The attempt to capture my second photographic goal: the imposing peaks of Tymfi in the first light, as they'd be adorned with that stunning "alpine glow." But it's something different to dream and plan, and much more different to witness this magical scene live! So, after the unparalleled overnight stay in the hut-shelter, the alarm went off. Naturally, I looked out from the window. The sight of that magnificent landscape "forced" me to get dressed instantly, and within seconds, the tripod and camera were set up in the snow, perfectly ready for action. The sun rose, the moon set, and the peaks shone with a unique light. To capture this entire magical spectacle in one frame, it took a panorama of nine vertical shots.

San Marco is one of the six sestieri of Venice, lying in the heart of the city. San Marco also includes the island of San Giorgio Maggiore. Although the district includes Saint Mark's Square, that was never administered as part of the sestiere.

The small district includes many of Venice's most famous sights, including St Mark's Square, Saint Mark's Basilica, the Doge's Palace, Harry's Bar, the Palazzo Dandolo, San Moisè, the La Fenice theatre, the Palazzo Grassi and the churches of San Beneto, San Fantin, Santa Maria del Giglio, San Maurizio, San Moisè, Santo Stefano, San Salvador, San Zulian and San Samuele.

The area is densely built and was the location of Venice's government. It is now heavily touristed and is home to many hotels, banks and expensive shops.

Today was the first day of spring! So i went out to celebrate this with some fine image. Sorry that i did not return with any flowers for you... ;)

Yet there is a bit more to it than just trees. This hill in fact is man-made: a ringfort from around 700 AD. It was built by Slavic people who by this time began to settle in this area of what is now the south of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. 300 years onward this became the borderland between the early German kingdom and the Slavic region. Germanic and Slavic settlements intermingled and even today you can determin the origin of many villages by their very names.

Over my recent 3-day weekend, my friend Jess Yarnell invited me to visit on a sandhill crane family whom had recently had a newborn colt. What do you think I said? Heck yeah!

We arrived bright and early at the nest and the air was quite cool that morning, so we had great hopes of finding this young one in the wings of one of its parents. Sure enough ... we could see one parent standing and another laying down on the mound at the nest. It kept checking on something under its wing, which of course we knew was the little one. As we anxiously awaited the little one to present itself, I could feel the excitement building. Finally, that moment arrived and up popped its fuzzy little head, as it peered around to orient itself again to its surroundings. Click, click, click went the cameras. In the excitement of the moment, I inadvertently clipped a tiny bit of the mom's beak -darn it. The moment didn't last long, as the parent quickly stood up and the colt tumbled out of its wings, through its legs, and onto the ground! It was quite comical!

When I looked at this image, I thought, wow, that's the ultimate and original featherbed! Thanks so much to Jess for inviting me to share in this special moment and wonderful morning that we spent with that lovely family.

Hope that everyone has a wonderful Monday! Thanks for stopping by to view and especially for all of your thoughts and comments!
